Alexander Merson (Palisades Park, N.J.) and first-year
Sabastian Mendoza (Weston, Fla.) produced victories in both singles and doubles as No. 11 Babson College defeated No. 36 Brandeis University, 5-2, in a non-conference men's tennis match between local rivals Tuesday afternoon at the Cordish Tennis Center.
With the victory, the Beavers have captured three in a row and nine of their last 10 to improve to 14-2 overall, while Brandeis had a four-match winning streak snapped and fell to 7-5 on the season.

Wesley Zhang (Staten Island, N.Y.) and sophomore
Mattias Harrell (Oslo, Norway) also recorded singles wins for the Beavers, and seniors
Ole Lepsoe (Oslo, Norway) and
Brady Anderson (Rochester, N.Y.) were on winning doubles teams for the Green and White.
Graduate student Dylan Walters (Baltimore, Md.) and first-year Daniel Shemesh (Modiin, Israel) registered singles triumphs for the Judges, and sophomore Huasen Dong (Richmond Hill, Ont.) and first-year Benjamin Kotzen (Austin, Texas) were winners at number three doubles.
The Beavers started the match by winning two of the three doubles sets to claim the team point. Lepsoe and Merson registered a 6-2 victory over Walters and Shemesh at number one, and Anderson and Mendoza clinched the point with a 6-3 verdict over sophomore Pierce Garbett (Coral Gables, Fla.) and first-year Aidan Wang-Fan (Richmond Hill, Ont.) at number two.
Babson took control of the match with straight-set victories in the first three singles matches as Mendoza downed Wang-Fan at number five, 6-0, 6-2; Zhang got past Dong at number four, 6-1, 6-3; and Merson posted a 6-2, 6-2 victory over Garbett at number two. Sophomore
Mattias Harrell (Oslo, Norway) was also 7-5, 6-1 winner over Kotzen at number six.
Brandeis picked up singles wins by Shemesh over first-year
Edward Wang (Burr Ridge, Ill.) at number three, 6-2, 7-6 (7-5), and Walters over Anderson in the top flight, 7-5, 4-6, 1-0 (10-7).
The Green and White are right back in action on Wednesday with a New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) match against Wheaton at 3:30 p.m. at the Babson Tennis Courts. Brandeis is home again on Friday, hosting Trinity at 3 p.m.
MATCH NOTES
• Babson has won the last three matches against Brandeis and is 7-20 all-time against the Judges going back to 1995.
• The 14 wins for the Green and White this season equal the second-most in program history, achieved by the Beavers in 2014-15 (14-4) and matched in 2018-19 (14-5) and 2023-24 (14-9).
• Babson is 6-2 this season against teams ranked in the top 40 by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA).
