No. 20 Men's Lacrosse Welcomes UMass Boston to MacDowell Field on Tuesday Evening

SERIES HISTORY
• Babson is 17-3 all-time against UMass Boston in a series that dates back to 1978.
• The Beavers have won nine straight games and 16 of the last 17 matchups against the Beacons. 
• The teams will meet for the fourth straight season on Tuesday and just the sixth time since 2003.

 LAST MEETING
Jared Rainville M'24 scored six goals and matched his season high with nine points as No. 14 USILA/No. 9 USA Lacrosse Babson scored 13 times in the second half to pull away for an 18-6 win over visiting UMass Boston on April 2, 2024, at rainy MacDowell Field.
Christian Brofft '24 and sophomore Seamus Rooney tallied three goals and an assist each and junior Bennett Smith added a goal and four assists for the Beavers. Graduate student Topher Bower chipped in with three assists in the win. James Turco M'24 (10-of-13) and Grey Sunderland '24 (9-of-14) dominated the face-offs, and senior Alex Fascilla finished with 14 saves in goal.
• Greg Wolff '24 led the Beacons with two goals and an assist. Graduate student Justin McCullough caused three turnovers and picked up four ground balls and classmate Patrick Carey had a team-high five ground balls. Sophomore James Boldy had a busy night in goal, making 17 saves in the setback.

SCOUTING THE BEAVERS
• No. 20 USILA Babson (7-3, 2-1 NEWMAC) pulled away from Wheaton for a conference win on Saturday, 16-10, at MacDowell Field.
• Sophomore Sam Sisk registered a career-high six points on four goals and two assists and Babson closed the game with a 5-0 run. Rooney scored three goals, fellow sophomore Camden Matthews and graduate student Justin Greene added a pair of goals each, and junior Will Reading won 13-of-18 face-offs. Senior Brendan Maher caused three turnovers, and first-year Andrew Almquist made seven second-half saves to earn his first career win in goal.
• Rooney (18-16-34) has at least one goal in nine of 10 games this season, Matthews (24-4-28) leads the team in goals, and Smith (11-10-21) has a team-high five man-up goals. Sisk (10-7-17), Greene (13-3-16) and sophomore Anthony Stillwell (13-2-15) are offensive threats and Bower (4-11-15) is second on the team in assists.
• Graduate Student Tripp Clark (15 CTs, 40 GBs) and senior Brendan Maher (10 CTs, 19 GBs) anchor a defense that allows just 9.3 goals per game. Fascilla (6-3, 9.06 GAA, .568 sv. pct) ranks 39th in Division III in goals against average.

SCOUTING THE BEACONS
• UMass Boston (8-1, 2-0 LEC) extended its winning streak to four games with a 13-7 victory over Plymouth State on Friday evening in Plymouth, N.H.
• Senior Shane McGonagle (3g), graduate student Sean Daly (2g, 1a) and first-year Jack Schartner (2g, 1a) each tallied three points, and junior Matt Hutchings and grad student Seth Libby added two goals apiece for the Beacons, who outscored PSU 8-1 in the second half. Senior Sean Cullagh had five caused turnovers, junior Holden Kuzniar scooped up a team-high four ground balls, and Boldy made eight saves in the win.
• The Beacons boast a balanced offense with Hutchings (21-6-27), Schartner (16-6-22) and Libby (15-5-20, 3 GWG) all with at least 20 points, and first-year Cole Allan (6-9-15) leads the team in assists. Junior Jack DiFalco-Wheeler (52-91, .571) and first-year Jack Baker (42-58, .734) are standout face-off specialists.
• Carey is having an outstanding season with 22 caused turnovers and 45 ground balls, and McCullough and Cullagh have 15 CTs each. Boldy (7-1, 6.96 GAA, .591 sv. pct) has started all nine games and ranks third in Division III in goals against average.

FRIENDLY CONFINES
• Babson is 5-1 at MacDowell Field this spring and is 14-1 going back to the start of last season.
• The Beavers have outscored their six opponent 83-55 at home this season.

FAMILIAR FACE
• UMass Boston's Tyler Low, now in his 15th season as head coach of the Beacons, enjoyed a solid four-year career at Babson, where he played 36 games as a defender for the Beavers.
• Low was a captain for the Beavers as a senior in 2009, when he established career highs for games played (16) and ground balls (28).
• The Beacons have gone 51-16 over the past four seasons under Low, with three Little East regular season titles and back-to-back tournament crowns in 2021 and 2022.

SUCCESS AT THE X
• Reading has won 29-of-44 face-offs over his last three games (.659) and first-year Beck Trafton has captured 19-of-31 in his last four outings.
• The Beavers, who have a .508 face-off percentage, are 5-0 this season and 20-1 over the past two seasons when winning at least 50 percent of the face-offs.

BUSY BEAVERS
• Sisk has eight goals and seven assists for 15 points in his last four games after recording just two goals in his first 10 career outings.
• Rooney has at least two points in seven games this season and at least four points in five of the 10 contests.
• Matthews has multi-goal games in eight of his 10 outings this spring.
• Smith has a point in 16 consecutive appearances dating back to last year.
• Greene has 12 of his 16 points (10g, 2a) in his last four outings.

CLIMBING THE CHARTS
• Bower sits in 10th place on Babson career scoring list with 146 points (61 goals, 85 assists), and he is third on the all-time assist list.
• Smith (44g, 70a, 114pts) has moved up to sixth place on the program's career assists list.
• Maher is sixth all-time with 65 caused turnovers, and graduate student Sammy Kalishman is 13th on Babson's career list with 152 ground balls.

NUMBERS TO KNOW
• Babson is 6-0 this season when scoring at least 14 goals in a game and 7-0 when reaching double digits in scoring.
• The Beavers are 5-1 this season and 31-2 over the past three seasons when leading at halftime.
• The Green and White are 16-0 over the past three seasons when holding the opponents to eight goals or less.
