BABSON PARK, Mass.— Sophomore
Sam Sisk (Madison, Conn.) registered a career-high six points on four goals and two assists and No. 20/20 Babson College closed the game with a 5-0 run to defeat Wheaton College, 16-10, in New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) men's lacrosse action Saturday afternoon at MacDowell Field.
The Beavers have won three out of their last four games to improve to 7-3 overall and 2-1 in the NEWMAC. The Lyons have dropped three in a row to fall to 6-4 overall and 1-1 in conference play.

Andrew Almquist (Wakefield, Mass.) made seven second-half saves to earn his first career win in goal.
Senior Mike McLaughlin (Stoughton, Mass.) led the visitors with three goals and an assist while junior Emmett Edwards (Sunderland, Vt.) scored three times and senior Charlie Racine (Oradell, N.J.) added two goals and an assist. Sophomore Chris Bodnaruk (Andover, Mass.) won 12 of 27 face-offs, senior Connor Almstrom (Cumberland, R.I.) and sophomore Henry Stamatel (Plainville, Mass.) scooped up five ground balls each, and Almstrom made 12 saves in goal in the setback.
The Lyons had the early energy and took a 2-0 lead in the first three minutes on goals by McLaughlin and junior Charlie Goodrich (Fairfield, Conn.). Rooney put the Beavers on the board midway through the frame but McLaughlin and Edwards scored the next two goals for Wheaton to give the visitors a 4-1 advantage early in the second quarter.
Babson pulled to within one on back-to-back goals by Matthews and Sisk before sophomore Evan Paturzo (Bellingham, Mass.) answered for Wheaton with 9:44 remaining in the second. The Beavers scored the next three goals, a man-up strike by Smith with 9:14 on the clock and late markers by sophomore
Andrew Berardi (Orleans, Mass.) and Greene to give Babson its first lead, 6-5, with 1:30 to go in the half. Racine fired in his first of the game with 4.5 seconds left in the half as the teams went into the break tied at 6-all.
Wheaton pulled ahead again to start the third quarter on goals by Racine and Edwards, but Babson answered with three consecutive goals by Greene, Matthews and Sisk to regain the lead. McLaughlin tied it at 9-9 with seven minutes remaining in the third before Rooney scored with two minutes on the clock to send Babson into the fourth quarter with a slim 10-9 lead.
Sisk and Edwards exchanged goals in the first two minutes of the final frame, but that would be the extent of the Wheaton offense. Babson closed out the win with five unanswered goals, one each by Rooney, Sisk, Stillwell, junior
Jack Feeks (Georgetown, Mass.) and Bower.
The Beavers had a 45-32 advantage on shots and a 35-29 margin in ground balls. Babson won 18 of the 30 face-offs and each team scored once with a man-advantage.
Babson is home again on Tuesday, hosting UMass Boston in a non-conference affair at 7 p.m. at MacDowell Field. Wheaton travels to Salve Regina for a NEWMAC match-up next Saturday at 3 p.m.
GAME NOTES
• Babson has won 15 straight games against Wheaton and is now 32-9 all-time against the Lyons in a series that dates back to 1992.
• The Beavers are 5-0 this season and 20-1 since last spring when winning at least 50 percent of the face-offs.
• Sisk has eight goals and seven assists for 15 points in his last four games after recording just two goals in his first 10 career outings.
• Rooney has at least one point in all 10 games this season with seven multi-point outings.
