SPRINGFIELD, Mass. —Sophomore
David Krol (Grafton, Wis.) turned in another top 10 performance when he finished in ninth place on the 1-meter board at the NCAA Division III Northeast/North Diving Regional held Saturday afternoon at Springfield College's Linkletter Natatorium.
Krol finished with a score of 418.35 points, just a fraction behind senior William Hopkins of New York University, who finished with a score of 418.40, and less than four points back of senior Ivan Knowpflmacher of Colby, who had 422.05. Saturday's outcome came on the heels of Krol's eighth place performance in Friday's 3-meter event. Krol is coached by Babson diving coach Liz McQuaid.
First-year Calder Biondi of Williams captured the 1-meter title with a score of 483.75, with junior Thomas Cable of the Merchant Marine Academy and Christian Butler of Springfield finishing in a tie for second with 462.25 points.
