THE SETUP
• The Babson men's and women's swimming & diving teams along with their conference rivals descend upon WPI's Sports and Recreation Center for the 2025 NEWMAC Championships beginning on Thursday evening.
• The league meet will run through Sunday night with preliminaries in the morning sessions (10 a.m.) and finals in the evening (6 p.m.) as both the men's and women's squads will compete in 20 events.

2024 NEWMAC CHAMPIONSHIP RECAP
• The Babson men placed fourth with 740.5 points, the highest point total since 2002 when they placed a program-best second. The Babson women finished seventh for the fifth straight year with 284 points.
• The men's team set six program records, including three by Spencer Ernst (500, 1000, 1650 free) and one each by senior
Pat Anutarasoti (100 fly, 49:08), Blake Albanese '24 (200 breast, 2:02.59) and the 400 medley relay team of sophomore
Anthony Taskolov, Albanese, Anutarasoti and Nathan Ford '24 (3:21.73).
• The women's squad set two program records, including
Vera Belfonti '24 in the 100 fly (58.46) and senior
Kendall Garvey in the 1650 free (18:16.30).
• The Beaver men made three podium appearances, including Albanese in the 100 breast (third), the 400 medley relay team (third) and the 800 free relay team of Ford, Albanese, Joshua Kim '24 and Taslakov (third).
• Other top five finishers for the Beaver men included Anutarasoti (4th) in the 100 breast, Taslakov in the 200 free (Tie-5th) and 200 back (5th), and senior
Matthew D'Elia in the 200 fly (5th).
• MIT captured both team championships, marking 15 titles in a row in the men's meet and 13 straight in the women's.
TOP NEWMAC TIMES (MEN)
• Anutarasoti has three top-seven times among NEWMAC men's swimmers this season, ranking third in the 100 breast (55.68) and seventh in both the 50 free (21.13) and 100 fly (49.29).
• Taslakov has five top 15 times in several events, ranking eighth in the 200 back (1:53.98), 10th in the 400 IM (4:13.24), 12th in the 500 free (4:47.48), 13th in the 100 back (52.71), and 14th in the 200 free (1:43.60).
• Three Beaver first-years have posted top-15 times in two events each,
Thomas Ambelang in the 100 back (10th, 52.18) and 200 back (13th, 1:55.69),
Nathan Huynh in the 100 breast (11th, 57.45) and 200 breast (13th, 2:10.56), and
William Iglar in the 200 breast (10th, 2:08.66) and 1000 free (14th, 10:20.02).

Ilian Garware has the 9th-fastest time in the 1650 free (17:23.64) and the trio of D'Elia (1:53.63) and first-years
Nehemiah Rhee (1:53.67) and
Liam Maloney (1:54.81) are 10-11-12, respectively, in the 200 fly.
TOP NEWMAC TIMES (WOMEN)
• First-year
Tuana Turhan has three top-15 times among NEWMAC swimmers this season, ranking ninth in the 100 breast (2:26.30), 11th in the 200 fly (2:08.75), and 13th in the 100 fly (58.25).
• First-year
Julia Netishen has a pair of top-10 times in the conference this winter, ranking eighth in the 100 back (58.45) and 10th in the 50 free (24.15), while Garvey is seventh in the 1650 free (18:16.15) and 11th in the 1000 free (10:57.98).
• First-years
Samantha Gilbert and
Marta Gershanok have a pair of top-20 times for the Beavers, as Gilbert ranks 16th in the 100 breast (1:08.98) and 19th in the 200 breast (2:31.65) and Gershanok is 18th in the 400 IM (4:46.98) and 20th in the 200 back (2:11.32).
• Other top 20 performers for the Green and White include graduate student
Anya Pelshaw, 15th in the 100 breast (1:08.62); senior
Audrey Daniels, 17th in the 100 breast (1:09.10); junior
Virginia Randell, 18th in the 1650 free (19:14.89); and sophomore
Nicolette Newsome in the 1650 (19:15.72).
DIVING OUTLOOK
• Leading the Beavers in the diving events will be sophomore
David Krol, who broke the program 6-dive records on both boards this month, scoring 342.30 points on 1-meter and 348.60 points on 3-meter. For the second year in a row, he has qualified for the NCAA Northeast Regional Championships on February 28-March 1 in Springfield, Mass.
• Krol will be making his first NEWMAC Championships appearance after missing last year's meet with an injury.
TOP WOMEN'S ALL-TIME PERFORMERS
• Several Babson swimmers have made their marks on the Babson list of all-time top performers.
• Netishen has set the program record in the 50 free (24.13) and ranks second in the 100 back (58.45) while Turhan has the program standard in the 100 fly (58.25) and ranks second in the 200 fly (2:08.75), third in 200 breast (2:26.30), and fifth in the 200 IM (2:12.90).
• Garvey owns the program record in the 1650 free (18:16.15) and ranks second all-time in the 1000 free (10:57.98).
• Gilbert is third in the 200 IM (2:11.84) while Gershanok is third in the 400 IM (4:46.98) and fourth in the 200 back (2:11.32) and Newsome is ranked fourth in the 500 free (5:21.24).
• Pelshaw appears fifth on the all-time list in both the 100 breast (1:08.62) and 100 fly (59.44).
TOP MEN'S ALL-TIME PERFORMERS
• The Beaver men have also made an impact on the all-time program list, led by Anutarasoti who has set the program standard in the 100 breast (55.68).
• Ambelang ranks fourth in the 100 back (51.97) and fifth in the 200 back (1:55.69), while Huynh is fourth in the 100 breast (57.45) and fifth in the 200 breast (2:08.66).
• Rhee (1:53.67) and Liam Maloney (1:54.81) are fourth and fifth, respectively, in the 200 fly.
