BABSON PARK, Mass.— Junior Trace Norwell (Erie, Colo.) scored two goals and senior Max Resnick (Tampa, Fla.) added a goal and two assists as Tufts University skated past No. 11 Babson College, 5-1, in a non-conference men's ice hockey game Tuesday evening inside the Babson Skating Center.

With the setback, Babson suffered its first loss of the season and dropped to 6-1-1 overall while the Jumbos broke a two-game losing skid and improved to 3-2-0 on the season.

Senior Brendan Kennedy (Georgetown, Ont.) scored the only goal for the Beavers with assists from classmates Will Holland (Charlotte, N.C.) and Cam Joslin (Cohasset, Mass.). Junior Mason Rosado (Weddington, N.C.) made 22 saves in goal in the setback.

Junior Ethan Ullrick (Lakewood, Ill.) tallied a goal and an assist and first-year Colby Dobek (Dunkirk, N.Y.) added a goal for the Jumbos. Senior Brendan Fennell (Melrose, Mass.) collected three assists, senior John Mulvihill (San Juan Capistrano, Calif.) and juniors Jonathan Horn (Southbury, Conn.) and Marcus Sang (Toronto, Ont.) contributed one helper each, and senior Gus Bylin (Montclair, N.J.) finished with 30 saves in the win.

The Jumbos scored the only goal of the first period when Fennell fed Ullrick in the slot from behind the net and Ullrick ripped a shot past Rosado inside the left post for a 1-0 lead at 7:54. The visitors doubled their lead with a power play goal 1:17 into the second frame when Norwell buried a loose puck in the crease for his first of the evening.

Resnick made it a 3-0 game at 13:48 of the middle period, scoring from the left circle after a pass from Fennell at the right circle. The Jumbos tacked on another goal late the second when Norwell capitalized on a 3-on-2 with a shot from the high slot that beat Rosado at 18:25.

Tufts rounded out its scoring at 9:22 of the third when Dobek got past a Babson defender along the right boards and stuffed a puck through a sprawling Rosado.

The Beavers broke up the shutout two minutes later when Kennedy buried a rebound after Bylin made a stop on a shot by Holland at the right point.

Babson finished with a 31-27 margin in shots on goal. Tufts went 1-for-4 on the power play and killed off all four Babson chances with the man advantage.
