NORTON, Mass.— Sophomore
Tuana Turhan (Lake Forest, Ill.) captured two events and
Julia Netishen (Exeter, N.H.) added one individual victory as the Babson College women's swimming and diving team edged Roger Williams University for first place in the team standings on the second and final day at the Fisher Invitational at Wheaton College's Balfour Natatorium.
The Beavers totaled 465 points on Saturday to finish with 843 points in the meet, while Roger Williams, which led after Friday's events, finished second with 825. Wheaton took third with 657, followed by Eastern Connecticut with 447 and Saint Joseph's (Maine) with 7 points.
Turhan posted a career-best time of 4:42.76 to capture the 400 individual medley and came back with a victory in the 100 butterfly in 57.91 seconds. Netishen touched the wall first in the 100 backstroke in a time of 1:00.13 and finished second in the 50 free in 24.62 seconds. Netishen and Turhan were joined by sophomore
Samantha Gilbert (Arlington, Va.) and junior
Sylvie Racicot (Arlington, Mass.) for a second-place finish in the 200 medley relay in a time of 1:49.94.
Gilbert posted a second-place finish in the 100 butterfly in 1:00.79 and a third-place showing in the 200 freestyle in 1:59.41. She teamed up with senior
Sophia Sznewajs (Edina, Minn.), Racicot, and Netishen for a runner-up finish in the 400 medley relay.

Marta Gershanok (Closter, N.J.) was right behind Turhan in the 400 IM, finishing second with a time of 4:49.25. First-year
Middy Hinckley (Trent Woods, N.C.) led a group of three Beavers who were top-5 finishers in the 1650 free, finishing second in a time of 19:12.81 while first-year
Leila Evans (Sandwich, Mass.) was fourth in 19:31.92 and senior
Vangella Randell (Holden, Mass.) came in fifth in 19:44.73.
First-year
Becky Hwang (Needham, Mass.) posted a career-best time of 1:01.64 to take second place in the 100 backstroke. Three Babson swimmers followed Netishen as top-six placers in the 50 free, as Racicot was third in 25.13 seconds, Sznewajs was fourth in 25.48, and first-year
AJ Hallbert (Enterprise, Ala.) was sixth in 25.59.
Another strong performance came from sophomore
Hailey Cronan (New Market, Md.), who was fifth in the 200 breaststroke in 2:49.21 and fifth in the 200 free in a career-best time of 2:00.20.
After a break for final exams and the holidays, Babson will return to competition with a dual meet against Amherst on January 2 at 5 p.m. inside Morse Pool.
