BEVERLY, Mass.—Senior Emma Shinney (Wakefield, Mass.) led all players with 19 points and five assists as Endicott College defeated visiting Babson College, 64-53, in non-conference women's basketball action on Friday night inside MacDonald Gym.
Babson, which was playing its third straight road game to start the season, is now 2-1, while Endicott evened its record at 2-2 with the victory.
Junior
Samantha Reale (North Attleboro, Mass.) scored 13 points to go along with eight rebounds and two steals, while first-year
Molly Donovan (Duxbury, Mass.) contributed a season-high 12 points in addition to grabbing five boards to lead the Beavers. Senior
Chloe Perreault (Danbury, Mass.) also had nine points and six rebounds in the loss.
Senior Tenley Wallin (Danbury, Conn.) scored 18 points on 6-of-12 shooting and sophomore Tricia Wladkowski (Norwood, Mass.) provided 11 points and eight rebounds off the bench for the Gulls.
Perreault scored seven first-quarter points and Reale gave the Green and White a 16-12 lead late in the stanza before Endicott answered with a 9-0 run to grab a 21-16 advantage on a jumper by Wallin just over a minute into the second. The Beavers made just three field goals in the period but the held the Gulls to just 33.3 percent shooting and were within 27-23 at the break after Reale converted a steal into a layup late in the period.
Donovan answered triples by Wallin and Shinney with two three-pointers of her own to get Babson within 35-33 with 3:41 to go in the third before the hosts went on an 12-2 run to build a double-digit lead it would not relinquish. Wallin canned another trifecta late in the quarter, Shinney scored four straight points to open the fourth and junior Sofia Mazzotta (Billerica, Mass.) converted a three-point play to extend Endicott's lead to 47-35 with 7:18 to go in the contest.
First-year
Alyssa Hopps (Quincy, Mass.) scored in transition and Reale followed with a putback to cut the Beavers' deficit to 47-39 with 4:47 remaining, but Wallin answered with her fourth three-pointer of the night on the ensuing possession and Wladkowski drilled another triple just over a minute later to give the Gulls their largest lead of the night at 53-39 with 3:23 to go.
The Green and White finished with a 42-39 edge on the glass but shot just 32.3 percent from the floor and finished 7-of-28 (25 percent) from beyond the arc. Endicott shot 36.4 percent and outscored the Beavers 18-6 at the free throw line.
Babson will play its first home game of the season on Tuesday when it hosts Tufts at 7 p.m. Endicott returns to action on Wednesday when it hosts Nichols at 5:30 p.m.
GAME NOTES
• The Beavers are now 9-5 all-time against Endicott and Friday's loss snapped their three-game winning streak going back to 2019.
• Friday's setback snapped Babson's seven-game road winning streak dating back to January of last year.
• The Green and White is now just 3-5 going back to the start of last season when being held below 60 points.
• The Beavers committed 28 fouls in Friday's loss, which is their most since being whistled for 30 in an 87-75 win at Salve Regina on January 25, 2025.
