WORCESTER, Mass.—The Babson College women's swimming and diving won five of the 13 events and finished second in eight races on the way to defeating Clark University, 118-87, in a dual meet Saturday afternoon at the Kneller Athletic Center.
With the win, the Beavers improve to 5-1 on the season while the Cougars are 0-1.
Sophomore
Samantha Gilbert (Arlington, Va.) had a strong meet for the Beavers, winning the 100 IM in a time of 1:03.33 and swimming a leg on the winning 200 free relay team. Classmate
Marta Gershanok (Closter, N.J.) captured the 100-backstroke in a time of 1:04.49, first-year
Middy Hinckley (Trent Woods, N.C.) finished first in the 200 free in 2:03.68, and classmate
Leila Evans (Sandwich, Mass.) was the winner of the 1000 free in a time of 11:43.26.

Julia Netishen (Exeter, N.H.) and first-years
Becky Hwang (Needham, Mass.) and
AJ Hallbert (Enterprise, Ala.) to capture the 200 free relay in 1:42.57.
Junior
Sylvie Racicot (Arlington, Mass.) was the runner-up in a pair of events, the 100 IM in 1:05.12 and the 500 free in 5:46.24, and sophomore
Tuana Turhan (Lake Forest, Ill.) took a pair of seconds as well, in the 50 free in 26.30 seconds and the 100 breaststroke in 1:11.63. Senior
Sophia Sznewajs (Edina, Minn.) took second place in the 100 free in 57.64 seconds and third in the 50 free in 26.61 seconds.
First-year
Finn Bergquist (Marblehead, Mass.) was also a second-place finisher for the Beavers in the 100 free in 11:43.85, while Netishen and senior
Vangella Randell (Holden, Mass.) finished second and third in the 100 butterfly in 1:06.76 and 1:08.99, respectively. Hallbert brought home third place in the 500 free in 5:47.94.

Emma Chenski (Hopewell Junction, N.Y.) led off the meet with a second-place finish in the 200 medley relay in 1:58.36.
The Beavers will compete in their first home meet of the season Friday against Stonehill at 5 p.m. inside Morse Pool.
