WORCESTER, Mass.—The Babson College men's swimming and diving won all 13 events and finished first, second and third in seven races on the way to defeating Clark University, 188-34, in a dual meet Saturday afternoon at the Kneller Athletic Center.
With the win, the Beavers improve to 4-1 on the season while the Cougars are 0-1.
Sophomore
Phillip Spiridonov (Ridgewood, N.J.) and first-year
Josh Adler (Merrimac, Mass.) led the Beavers with a pair of first-place finishes in individual swimming events. Spiridonov won the 50 free in 22.78 seconds and the 100 fly in 55.79 seconds while Adler took the 100 free in 51.43 second and the 200 free in 1:52.00. First-year
Hadi AlDayaa (Chelmsford, Mass.) was uncontested in winning the two diving events, scoring 200.70 points on 1-meter and 191.85 on 3-meter.
Junior
Anthony Taslakov (Sherborn, Mass.) had a solid meet, winning the 500 free in 4:58.16 and finishing second in the 50 free in 22.89 seconds. Sophomore
William Iglar (Marietta, Ga.) also recorded a first and a second place, winning the 100 backstroke in 56.42 seconds and finishing runner-up in the 100 IM in 54.22.
Other first-place finishers included senior
Zackary Cheung (Monterey Park, Calif.) in the 100 IM in 52.40 seconds, classmate
Marcelo Carrion (Fort Lauderdale, Fla.) in the 100 breast in 1:03.34, and sophomore
Tommy Hannenian (Sacramento, Calif.) in the 1000 free in 10:49.00.
Babson captured both relay races as the group of sophomores
Nehemiah Rhee (Paramus, N.J.) and
Nathan Huynh (Naperville, Ill.), Carrion and Spiridonov won the 200 medley relay in 1:38.44, and the team of Cheung, first-year
Evan Hong (Longmeadow, Mass.), Rhee and Huynh came in first in the 200 free relay in 1:29.22.
Six Beavers finished in second place in their events, including junior
Chengetai Zamchiya (Cheverly, Md.) in the 100 free in 53.90 seconds; sophomore
Dom Crisafulli (Natick, Mass.) in the 1000 free in 11:12.29; sophomore
Ilaan Garware (Pune, India) in the 200 free in 1:59.04; sophomore
Ryan Furudera (Tokyo, Japan) in the 100 back in 58.80; first-year
Jason Spears (Queen Creek, Ariz.) in the 100 fly in 57.06; and Hong in the 500 free in 5:07.22.
Babson will be back in the pool to compete against Bentley in the first home meet on November 15 at 6 p.m. inside Morse Pool.
