WORCESTER, Mass.—Junior
Anthony Taslakov (Sherborn, Mass.) was victorious in both of his individual events and the Babson College men's swimming & diving team recorded 13 top-two finishes highlighting a number of strong performances at WPI's Quad-Meet on Friday night.
The Beavers defeated Brandeis 191-86 and the host Engineers 162-131 while falling to Coast Guard, 161-129.
Taslakov touched the wall first in a time of 1:44.35 in the 200 freestyle and also won the 200 backstroke with a time of 1:57.49 later in the meet, while sophomore
Thomas Ambelang (Bernardsville, N.J.) won the 100 backstroke in a time of 53.36. Ambelang also teamed with sophomore
Nathan Huynh (Naperville, Ill.), first-year
Evan Hong (Longmeadow, Mass.) and sophomore
Tommy Hannenian (Sacramento, Calif.) to open the night with a first-place time of 1:35.61 in the 200 medley relay.
Hong came in second in both the 100 breaststroke (59.42) and the 50 free (21.84), while sophomore
William Iglar (Marietta, Ga.) was the runner-up in the 200 free with a time of 1:45.82 and the 200 breaststroke in a time of 2:10.97. He also added a fourth-place showing in the 200 IM with a time of 1:59.36.
First-year
Hadi Aldayaa (Chelmsford, Mass.) finished second with a score of 185.10 on the 1-meter diving board and 169.60 in the 3-meter event, sophomore
Nehemiah Rhee (Paramus, N.J.) was the runner-up with a time of 1:56.83 in the 200 butterfly, and Huynh produced a second-place result with his time of 59.42 in the 100 breaststroke. Rhee came in third in the 200 IM with a time of 51.97 and teamed with Taslakov, Hong and Hannenian also capped the meet by finishing as the runner-up in the 200 free relay.
Senior
Zackary Cheung (Monterey Park, Calif.) recorded a third-place showing in the 200 IM with a time of 1:59.15, classmate
Marcelo Carrion (Fort Lauderdale, Fla.) came in fourth in the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:01.76 and first-year
Josh Adler (Merrimac, Mass.) took fourth in the 1000 free with a time of 10:30.63. Carrion (100 butterfly), Ambelang (200 backstroke) and Hannenian (100 free) each added a fifth-place finish for the Beavers.
Babson gets right back into the pool on Saturday when it heads back to Worcester to face Clark at 1 p.m.
