Women’s Soccer Hosts Crosstown Rival Wellesley on Wednesday at Hartwell-Rogers Field

SERIES HISTORY

• Babson is 23-19-10 all-time against Wellesley in a series that dates back to 1982. 
• The Beavers are unbeaten over their last seven matches against the Blue (4-0-3) and have lost just once in 11 contests between the sides since 2013. 
• The two teams have tied the last two and three of the last four encounters at Hartwell-Rogers Field, and Babson is 2-0-3 at home vs. the Blue since 2015.

LAST MEETING
• Elisa Diletizia '25 scored the go-ahead goal in the 83rd minute to help visiting Babson defeat Wellesley, 3-2, on October 5, 2024, at Wellesley's Outdoor Fields Complex. 
• Senior Meredith Greeley scored a pair of goals, while Emma Mumby '25, junior Ally Clarkson and sophomore Josie Lee each provided an assist for the Beavers. Nora Ryan '25 stopped six shots in goal in the victory. 
• Junior Olivia Chow-Gillette and sophomore Emma Hogarth both scored for the Blue, which got six saves from senior goalkeeper Riley McNair. 

SCOUTING THE BEAVERS
• Babson (7-3-5, 6-2-1 NEWMAC) is looking to bounce back from a 1-0 conference loss at Wheaton on Saturday in Norton, Mass.
• The Beavers outshot the Lyons 26-9 (9-8 in shots on goal) and had a 12-0 advantage in corner kicks but could not convert. First-year keeper Maisie Creamer kept the Beavers in contention with seven saves, including five in the second half.
• Josie Lee (4-2-10) has scored four of Babson's 13 goals and leads the team in scoring. First-year Izzy Lee (2-1-5) has a pair of game-winning goals over Springfield and Coast Guard, and first-year Autumn Simon (1-2-4) shares the team lead in assists.
• Creamer (1.02 GAA, .806 sv. pct.) has started the last six games in the Beaver goal with one shutout and shared another clean sheet. Junior Callahan Cottone (0.55 GAA, .889 sv. pct.) started the first nine games for the Beavers while senior Cleo Grignard (0.57 GAA, .875 sv. pct) has made seven relief appearances between the pipes.

SCOUTING THE BLUE
• Wellesley (6-7-3, 3-4-2 NEWMAC) stopped a three-game losing streak with a 0-0 draw at Clark on Saturday in Worcester.
• McNair didn't face any shots in goal and came away with a 10th career shutout for the Blue. Wellesley maintained offensive pressure, ending with an 18-2 edge in shots taken. Sophomore Isabella Tolosa finished with a game-high five shots for the Blue.
• First-year Elena Garcia (4-1-9) had goals in conference wins over Coast Guard and Wheaton and Tolosa (1-5-7) is tied for third in the NEWMAC in assists. Sophomore Solveig Unteroberdoerster (3-0-6), junior Mae Nephew (2-0-4) and first-year Quinn Shirley (2-0-4) are also multi-goal scorers for the Blue.
• McNair (1.09 GAA, .848 sv. pct.) has started all 16 six games in the Blue goal and has been a part of nine shutouts, six on her own.

COMFORTS OF HOME
• The Green and White are 3-1-3 on Hartwell-Rogers Field this season and are 8-1-3 at home in the last 12 outings going back to last season.
• Babson is 30-12-8 at home going back to the start of the 2021 campaign.

DOWN THE STRETCH IN THE NEWMAC
• Heading into the final week of the regular season, defending champion MIT (8-0-1, 25 pts) has taken control of the NEWMAC race.
• Emerson (6-1-2, 20 pts) and Babson (6-2-1, 19 pts), who meet each other in the regular season finale on Saturday, are in a battle for second place along with Springfield (6-3-0, 18 pts), which is still very much in the race.
• WPI (4-3-2, 14 pts), Wheaton (4-5-0, 12 pts), Wellesley (3-4-2, 11 pts) and Coast Guard (3-5-1, 10 pts) are in position for the remaining four playoff spots, but are being chased by Clark (2-4-3, 9 pts), Salve Regina (2-5-2, 8 pts) and Smith (2-6-1, 7 pts).

BY JUST ONE GOAL
• Fourteen of Babson's 15 matches this season have been decided by a single goal or ended in a draw. 
• Going back to October 13 of last season, 21 of the Beavers' last 24 contests have either ended with the sides separated by a single or deadlocked. 
• The only three games during this stretch that have been decided by a margin of more than one is a 4-0 loss at MIT last October 23, a 3-1 win over Wheaton in last year's NEWMAC quarterfinals on November 5, and a 3-0 setback vs. MIT on October 18.

STINGY DEFENSE
• Babson has conceded just 11 goals in its 15 games, second fewest in the NEWMAC.
• The Green and White have recorded seven shutouts and allowed just one goal six times.
• The Beaver goalkeepers are ranked 53rd among more than 400 schools in Division III in team save percentage (0.853) and 62nd in team goals against average (0.71).

NUMBERS TO KNOW
• The Beavers are 6-0-1 this season and 13-0-3 going back to the start of last season when scoring the first goal of the match. 
• Dating back to 2022, Babson is 26-0-4 when leading at halftime.
• The Green and White is 35-6-12 over the last four years when conceding one goal or less. 
• Babson is 15-2-4 on natural grass in its last 21 games dating back to October 12 of last season.
