BABSON PARK, Mass.—The Babson College men's swimming & diving team won 12 of the 16 events to register a 193.5-94.5 victory over Wesleyan University in a home dual meet Saturday afternoon inside Morse Pool.
With the victory, the Beavers improve to 5-2 on the season while Wesleyan drops to 0-5 in dual meets this winter.
Senior
Pat Anutarasoti (Bangkok, Thailand) led the Beavers with three individual victories as well as one relay win. Sophomore
David Krol (Grafton, Wis.) collected a pair of individual victories and first-years
Thomas Ambelang (Bernardsville, N.J.) and
Tommy Hannenian (Sacramento, Calif.) each won an individual race and swam on both winning relay teams.
Anutarasoti captured the 50-yard breaststroke in 26.78 seconds, the 50-yard freestyle in 21.92 seconds, and the 50-yard butterfly in 22.71 seconds. He swam the leadoff leg of the winning 400 free relay ahead of sophomore
Anthony Taslakov (Sherborn, Mass.), Hannenian, and Ambelang, with the group finishing in a time of 3:15.26.
Ambelang was first to touch the wall in the 50 backstroke in 25.49 seconds and took third in the 100 back in 55.02. Hannenian was the winner of the 100 free in 49.38 seconds and third in the 200 free in 1:49.29. Ambelang and Hannenian were joined by fellow first-years
Nathan Huynh (Naperville, Ill.) and
Nehemiah Rhee (Paramus, N.J.) on the winning 200 medley relay in 1:37.42.
Krol led a 1-2 Babson finish in both diving events along with first-year
Andrew Scapicchio (Milton, Mass.) in his career debut. Krol scored a season-high 300.25 points to win the 1-meter and 246.30 to take the 3-meter while Scapicchio scored 181.60 to finish second on the low board and 194.85 to finish runner-up on the high board.
Other individual winners for the Beavers included Huynh in the 100-breaststroke in 59.93, Taslakov in the 200-free in a season-best 1:45.31, and first-year
Ilaan Garware (Pune, India) in the 1000-free in 10:43.21. Huynh also took second in the 50 breast (27.55), and Taslakov and Garware finished second and third in the 500 free in 4:55.42 and 5:16.39, respectively.
The Green and White got a solid individual performance from Rhee, who finished runner-up in both the 100 back in 54.81 and the 100 IM in 54.31. First-year
William Iglar (Marietta, Ga.) took second in the 200 free in 1:47.89 and third in both the 100 breast (1:00.56) and 100 IM (55.67), and senior
Matthew D'Elia (Old Bridge, N.J.) brought home second place in the 100 fly in 53.20 and third in the 50 fly in 24.79.
Other third-place finishers included first-year
Don Crisafulli (Natick, Mass.) in the 1000 free (11:03.59), classmate
Phillip Spiridonov (Ridgewood, N.J.) in the 50 back (26.96), and junior
Hawken Hammen (East Lyme, Conn.) in the 100 free (51.47).
After a Green and White meet next Saturday, the Beavers will return to competition against Wheaton on January 18 inside the Morse Pool, beginning at 12 p.m.
