Women’s Swimming & Diving Opens New Year in Relay Meet at No. 22 Amherst

AMHERST, Mass.—The Babson College women's swimming & diving team finished runner-up in two races and took third in seven of the 10 events as the Beavers competed against No. 22 Amherst College in a non-scoring relay dual meet Friday evening at Amherst's Pratt Pool.

The Babson contingent of seniors Emily Tran (Longmeadow, Mass.) and Audrey Daniels (Santa Monica, Calif.) and first-year Tuana Turhan (Lake Forest, Ill.) and Julia Netishen (Exeter, N.H.) finished runner-up in the 200-medley relay, posting a time of 1:50.97. The trio of seniors Maggie Cassily (Rye, N.H.) and Kendall Garvey (Wilbraham, Mass.) and Netishen took second in the 3x100-yard backstroke relay in a time of 3:12.68.

The Beavers finished third in all four relays that included three swimmers. First-years Marta Gershanok (Closter, N.J.), Samantha Gilbert (Arlington, Va.) and Turhan were third in the 3x100-yard butterfly relay in a time of 3:07.91; the trio of junior Catherine Curry (Melrose, Mass.), sophomore Sylvie Racicot (Arlington, Mass.) and senior Sophia Silver (Fayetteville, N.Y.) were third in the 3x100-yard back relay in a time of 3:23.49; while Daniels, Turhan and Gilbert were third in the 3x100-yard breast relay in 3:39.45; and junior Vangella Randell (Holden, Mass.), Gilbert and Garvey were third in the 3x100 IM relay in 3:20.95.

The Green and White unit of Tran, Racicot, Gilbert and Netishen brought home third place in the 200-free relay in a time of 1:42.18, while the team of Turhan, Daniels, Gilbert and Netishen were third in the 400 free relay in a time of 3:52.71. The Beavers were third and fourth in the 500 free relay race with Gershanok, Turhan, Netishen and Daniels taking third in 5:07.25, and Racicot, Garvey, Newsome and Tran finishing fourth in 5:08.60.

First-year Ella Walgreen (Danvers, Mass.) and senior Elina Sung (Dongguan, China) finished fourth and fifth in the 1-meter diving with scores of 75.75 and 61.20, respectively.

The Beavers will be right back in action on Saturday with a home dual meet against Wesleyan at the Morse Pool beginning at 12 p.m.
