BABSON PARK, Mass.—The Babson College men's swimming & diving team captured first place in all 13 events on the way to defeating Bridgewater State University, 190-44, in a dual meet Saturday afternoon inside Moriarty Pool.
The Beavers won their fourth straight dual meet this winter to improve to 7-2 on the season while the Bears have dropped four of their last five meets to dip to 2-6.
Senior
Pat Anutarasoti (Bangkok, Thailand), sophomores
Anthony Taslakov (Sherborn, Mass.) and
David Krol (Grafton, Wis.) and first-year
Nehemiah Rhee (Paramus, N.J.) led the Beavers with a pair of individual victories. Senior
Matthew D'Elia (Old Bridge, N.J.) and first-years
William Iglar (Marietta, Ga.) and
Ilaan Garware (Pune, India) also captured individual victories in the Beavers' triumph.
Anutarasoti touched the wall first in the 200 free in a personal-best time of 1:46.52 and the 100 backstroke in 57.50 seconds. He also swam the leadoff leg and was followed by first-years
Nathan Huynh (Naperville, Ill.),
Liam Maloney (Tampa, Fla.) and
Thomas Ambelang (Bernardsville, N.J.) on the winning 200 medley relay in a time of 1:39.43.
Taslokov was the winner of the 50 free in 22.58 seconds and the 100 fly in 54.10.; Krol was the high scorer in both the one-meter and three-meter diving, scoring 289.35 on the low board and 282.35 on the high board; and Rhee captured the 200 IM in 1:59.95 and the 100 breaststroke in 1:03.10.
D'Elia was the first-place finisher in the 500 free in a time of 5:05.15; Iglar earned first-place honors in the 100 free in 48.65 and took second in the 50 free (22.67); and Garware posted a personal-best time of 17:23.64 to win the 1,650 free.
The Beavers also posted 10 runner-up finishes including first-year
Andrew Scapiccchio (Milton, Mass.) in the one-meter (225.75) and three-meter (215.00) diving; sophomore
Jason Zeliph (Voorheesville, N.Y.) in the 1,650 free (18:10.43), first-year
Tommy Hannenian (Sacramento, Calif.) in the 200 free (1:50.15); Ambelang in the 100 fly (55.06); first-year
Phillip Spiridonov (Ridgewood, N.J.) in the 100 free (50.85); graduate student
Cole Seeger (Lakewood, Ill.) in the 500 free (5:05.87); and Maloney in the 100 breast (1:04.46).
Third-place finishers for the Green and White included sophomore
Matthew Choi (Pebble Beach, Calif.) in the 100 back (1:00.47), first-years
Don Crisafulli (Natick, Mass.) in the 200-IM in 2:08.08 and
Chengetai Zamchiya (Cheverly, Md.) in the 100 breast (1:06.10), Seeger in the 200 free (1:52.53), and Hannenian in the 500 free (5:09.01).
The Beavers return to action next Saturday when they travel across town to Wellesley for an exhibition meet beginning at 11 a.m.
