BABSON PARK, Mass.—The Babson College men's swimming & diving team won 10 of the 16 events to defeat longtime rival Wheaton College, 169-109, in a home meet Saturday afternoon inside Morse Pool.
The Beavers won their third straight dual meet to improve to 6-2 on the season while Wheaton dropped to 2-4 in dual meets this winter.
Senior
Pat Anutarasoti (Bangkok, Thailand) and sophomores
Anthony Taslakov (Sherborn, Mass.) and
David Krol (Grafton, Wis.) led the Beavers with a pair of individual victories. First-years
Liam Maloney (Tampa, Fla.) and
William Iglar (Marietta, Ga.) also posted an individual victory and the Beavers captured both relays in the win.
Anutarasoti was the winner of the 100-yard breaststroke in 57.56 seconds and the 100-yard butterfly in 50.77 seconds, while Taslokov touched the wall first in the 100-yard backstroke in 53.88 and the 200 back in 1:57.24. Krol was the high scorer in both the one-meter and three-meter diving, scoring 299.20 on the low board and 307.60 on the high board.
The Green and White opened the meet with a 1-2 finish in the 200-yard medley relay as first-years
Thomas Ambelang (Bernardsville, N.J.),
Nathan Huynh (Naperville, Ill.),
Nehemiah Rhee (Paramus, N.J.) and
Tommy Hannenian (Sacramento, Calif.) finished first in a time of 1:37.54 and the contingent of Taslakov, first-year
William Iglar (Marietta, Ga.), senior
Matthew D'Elia (Old Bridge, N.J.) and Anutarasoti came in at 1:37.67. Babson finished off the team victory by winning the final event, the 400-yard free relay with Taslakov, Iglar, Hannenian, and Anutarasoti outdistancing the field in 3:11.46.
Iglar brought home first place in the 200-breaststoke in 2:12.71 as well as third place in the 1000-yard free in 10:30.63, and Maloney took first in the 200-fly in 1:58.20. D'Elia turned in a pair of runner-up finishes in the 100 fly in 53.93 and 200 fly in 1:58.47, and graduate student
Cole Seeger (Lakewood, Ill.) took second in both the 200-free (1:51.90) and 500-free (5:08.01).
Other second-place showings included Hannenian in the 100-breast in 1:03.08, Huynh in the 200-breast in 2:18.21, and first-year
Don Crisafulli (Natick, Mass.) in the 200-IM in 2:06.96.
Ambelang finished third in both the 200 free (1:53.58) and 200 back (2:01.89) and Rhee took third in the 200 fly (2:03.76) and 100 free (50.24). Huynh also took third in the 200 IM (2:09.22), first-year
Ilaan Garware (Pune, India) was third in the 500 free in 5:13.64, and senior
Aidan Downey-Lamprey (Norwell, Mass.) rounded out the list of third-place finishers in the 50 free in 23.26 seconds.
The Beavers will compete in their final road dual meet of the season next Saturday at Bridgewater State, beginning at 2 p.m.
