No. 6 Field Hockey Travels to Wheaton for NEWMAC Contest on Friday Evening

SERIES HISTORY
• The Beavers have won the last eight and 12 of the last 13 against Wheaton and have a 27-12-1 advantage over the Lyons in the all-time series that dates back to 1986.
• The last eight Babson wins have been decided by at least three goals with four shutouts.
• The Green and White have won the last six games over Wheaton in Norton since a 3-0 loss to the Lyons in 2008.

LAST MEETING
• Senior Camille Marsh had a career-high performance with five goals to lead No. 2 Babson to a 9-0 victory over Wheaton on September 23, 2023, at MacDowell Field.
• Junior Jessica Evans tallied a goal and an assist for the Beavers, and Jackie Hill M'24, senior Berit Sharrow and Meghan Diamond '24 scored once each. Meara Hanyon '23 M'24 recorded a pair of assists and senior Bayla Furmanek stopped the only shot she faced to record her fourth shutout of the season.
• Emma Lapreziosa had an impressive performance in the Wheaton goal with a career-high 24 saves.

SCOUTING THE BEAVERS
• No. 6 Babson (5-3, 1-0 NEWMAC) looks to get back on the winning track following a 3-1 setback at No. 7 Tufts on Tuesday evening in Medford.
• Evans scored a second-quarter goal for the Green and White and Marsh registered an assist. Furmanek made six saves in the loss, tied for her second-most in a game this season.
• DiGiovanni (5-3-13) is tied for third in the NEWMAC in scoring while Evans (3-1-7) is second on the team in points. Graduate student Katie Guden (3-0-6) is tied with Evans for second on the team in goals and tied with classmate Andrea Marguerite (2-2-6) for third on the team in points. Sophomore Helen DiGiovanni (2-1-5), Sharrow (2-1-5), and Marsh (2-1-5) are all multi-goal scorers.
• Furmanek (0.99 GAA, 0.778 sv. pct.) has started 60 consecutive games in the Babson goal, leads the league with four shutouts and ranks 26th in Division III in goals against average.

SCOUTING THE LYONS
• Wheaton (6-2, 0-1 NEWMAC), which fell to Wellesley, 4-1, in its conference opener last Saturday, is coming off a 5-1 victory over Fitchburg State on Tuesday in Fitchburg.
• First year Kelsey Thompson tallied a pair of goals and junior Riley Levrault potted a goal and added two assists to lead the Lyons past the Falcons. Senior Delia Knox and sophomore Hannah Fortin each scored once, senior Lydia Gaudreau collected two assists, and sophomore Grace Ferguson made seven saves in goal in the win.
• Knox (4-5-13) is second in the NEWMAC in assists and tied for third in points while Levrault (4-2-10) is tied for the team lead in goals. Thompson (3-0-6), first-year Kayla Wilonski (2-1-5) and Fortin (2-0-4) are all multi-goal scorers and Gaudreau (0-3-3) is second on the team in assists.
• Ferguson (1.50 GAA, 47 svs.) has started all eight games in the Wheaton goal and leads the conference in saves.

NEWMAC DOMINANCE
• Babson has won 60 consecutive NEWMAC regular season games going back to October 20, 2015. The last regular season loss was a 1-0 verdict at Mount Holyoke on October 17, 2015.
• The Beavers have captured 32 straight contests against NEWMAC opponents, including the conference tournament, since the start of the 2021 campaign. The last setback was a 3-2 overtime loss to MIT in the 2019 NEWMAC title game.

ROAD WARRIORS
• Friday's encounter is the third straight road game in a seven-day span for the Beavers.
• Including next Tuesday's contest at WPI, the Green and White are in the midst of a string of seven out of eight games on the road.
• Babson is 3-2 on the road this season and 26-5 on opponent's turf over the past four seasons.

IN THE RECORD BOOKS
• Evans is now tied for 15th in program history with 22 career assists and 17th with 76 career points.
• Furmanek is one win shy of tying Jess Pasho (2008-11) for second place on the program's all-time list with 47 victories.
• Furmanek set the program record for career shutouts earlier this month and now has 25 to her name.

BEAVER BITES
• The Beavers are ranked ninth in Division III in shutouts per game (0.50) and 26th in goals against average (0.99).
• The Green and White are ranked 27th in Division III in scoring margin (+1.74).
• Babson's 22 goals have come from 10 different scorers with seven multi-goal scorers.

NUMBERS TO KNOW
• The Beavers are 27-2 since the start of last year and 62-2 over the past four seasons when scoring the first goal of the game.
• The Green and White have won its last 58 games over the past four campaigns when leading at halftime.
• Since 2019, the Beavers are 34-6 in the month of September against all teams other than Middlebury.

UP NEXT
• The Beavers will play another conference road game at WPI on Tuesday at 6 p.m.
