No. 5 Field Hockey Takes on No. 7 Tufts in Medford on Tuesday Evening

SERIES HISTORY
• Babson is 8-22 all-time against Tufts in a series that dates back to 1994.
• The Beavers have won four straight and six of the last nine meetings going back to 2015, including both games in Babson Park last season.
• Seven of the last eight matches between the teams have been decided by just one goal, three of which extended into overtime.
• The Green and White have won three of the last four games against Tufts in Medford.

LAST MEETING
• Senior Jessica Evans scored the only goal of the game early in the second quarter and classmate Bayla Furmanek made one save in goal as No. 2 Babson pulled out a 1-0 victory over No. 10 Tufts in an NCAA Tournament quarterfinal contest on November 12, 2023 at MacDowell Field.
• Junior goalie Lydia Eastburn had a solid performance in the Tufts goal and finished with four saves.
• In a game dominated by defense, Babson had a 7-2 advantage in shots, including 6-1 in shots on goal.

SCOUTING THE BEAVERS
• No. 5 Babson (5-2, 1-0 NEWMAC) opened conference play with a 9-0 whitewash of Clark on Saturday in Worcester.
• Graduate student Andrea Marguerite tallied two goals and two assists and classmate Katie Guden and senior Camille Marsh added a pair of goals each for the Beavers. Grad student Sophie Croci and junior Caroline DiGiovanni chipped in with a goal and an assist each and Evans rounded out the list of goal scorers.
• DiGiovanni (5-3-13) is tied for third in the NEWMAC in scoring while Guden (3-0-6) is second on the team in goals and Marguerite (2-2-6) tied her career high with six points at Clark. Sophomore Helen DiGiovanni (2-1-5), Evans (2-1-5), senior Berit Sharrow (2-1-5) and Marsh are all multi-goal scorers.
• Furmanek (0.71 GAA, 0.815 sv. pct.) has started 59 consecutive games in the Babson goal, leads the league with four shutouts and ranks 15th in Division III in goals against average.

SCOUTING THE JUMBOS
• No. 7 Tufts (5-1, 3-1 NESCAC) has won its last four outings, including shutout victories last week over No. 13 MIT (2-0) on Wednesday and No. 24 Hamilton (3-0) on Saturday in New York.
• Graduate student Andrea DelGiudice scored two of the goals in the win over Hamilton and junior Hannah Biccard added the other. Sophomore Claire Casey and senior Kylie Rosenquest scored the two goals in the triumph over MIT and Eastburn made three saves in each win.
• DelGiudice (8-3-19) leads the NESCAC and ranks ninth in Division III in both goals and points per game. Biccard (4-0-8) is second on the team in scoring, Rosenquest (2-3-7) is a multi-goal scorer and senior Kayeigh McDonald (0-4-4) tops the team in assists.
• Eastburn (5-1, 0.55 GAA, 14 svs.) has started all six games in the Tufts goal and ranks ninth in Division III in goals against average.

BABSON VS. THE NESCAC
• Tuesday's matchup vs. Tufts is the fifth of six Babson regular season games this season against schools from the New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC).
• The Green and White are 2-2 against NESCAC teams this season after going 6-2 last season and 4-2 in both 2021 and 2022.
• The Beavers will also travel to Bowdoin on October 9.

BABSON VS. RANKED TEAMS
• Babson is 8-4 since the start of last year against top-20 opponents and 5-4 against top-10 foes.
• Three of the ranked losses for the Green and White since last year have been to top-ranked Middlebury.

BEAVER BITES
• The Beavers are ranked sixth in Division III in shutouts per game (0.57) and 12th in goals against average (0.71).
• The Green and White are ranked 24th in Division III in goals per game (3.0)
• Babson's 21 goals have come from 10 different scorers with seven multi-goal scorers.

NUMBERS TO KNOW
• The Beavers are 27-2 since the start of last year and 62-2 over the past four seasons when scoring the first goal of the game.
• The Green and White have won its last 58 games over the past four campaigns when leading at halftime.
• Since 2019, the Beavers are 34-5 in the month of September against all teams other than Middlebury.

UP NEXT
• The Beavers will return to NEWMAC play on Friday with a 7 p.m. match-up at Wheaton.
