No. 5 Field Hockey Travels to Clark for NEWMAC Opener on Saturday

SERIES HISTORY
• The Beavers have a 22-15-2 advantage over the Cougars in the all-time series that dates back to 1985.
• Babson has won the last 19 matchups going back to 2004, with the last Clark victory a 3-2 verdict in the 2003 NEWMAC Tournament quarterfinals in Babson Park.
• The Green and White has captured the last nine games at Clark, allowing just four goals and blanking the Cougars five times in that span.

LAST MEETING
Brianne McGrath '23 M'24 finished with two goals and one assist to reach 100 points for her career as third-ranked Babson rolled to a 7-0 win over visiting Clark on September 15, 2023, at MacDowell Field. 
Sinead Walsh M'24 recorded a goal and two assists, graduate student Andrea Marguerite had a goal and assist, and senior Ellie Powers, junior Caroline DiGiovanni and sophomore Helen DiGiovanni each added a marker for the Beavers.
• Junior Loren Root made a season-high 19 saves in the loss for the Cougars.

SCOUTING THE BEAVERS
• No. 5 Babson (4-2, 0-0 NEWMAC) is coming off a last-minute heartbreaking loss to No. 1 Middlebury on Sunday at MacDowell Field.
• Graduate student Katie Guden scored her first goal of the season in the loss, with an assist from Caroline DiGiovanni. Senior Bayla Furmanek made six saves in the Beaver goal, including one on a second-half penalty stroke by the Panthers.
• DiGiovanni (4-2-10) is tied for fifth in the NEWMAC in scoring, including a pair of game-winners, and senior Berit Sharrow (2-1-5) and Helen DiGiovanni (2-0-4) are multi-goal scorers. Evans (1-1-3), Guden, junior Alex Michelotti and sophomore Ashley Braren have one goal each.
• Furmanek (0.83 GAA, 0.808 sv. pct., 3 SO) has started 53 consecutive games in the Babson goal going back to the start of the 2022 season.

SCOUTING THE COUGARS
• Clark (4-1, 0-0 NEWMAC), which hosts Simmons on Friday evening before welcoming the Beavers on Saturday, brings a three-game winning streak into the weekend following a 5-3 victory over UMass Dartmouth last Saturday.
• Graduate student Rachael Romain netted a pair of goals, including the game-winner in the fourth quarter, and added an assist in the win over UMD. Junior Ciaran Cubbage also scored a pair of goals, junior Jenna Beauchain tallied a goal and an assist, and sophomore Rachel Reiter made six saves in goal.
• Cubbage (5-0-10) is tied for third in the NEWMAC in goals and tied for fifth in points. Beauchain (4-1-9) and graduate student Greer McCarty (4-1-9) are tied for fifth in the league in goals. Romain (2-1-5) is also a multi-goal scorer and junior Elizabeth Cacciapaglia (0-3-3) leads the team in assists.
• Reiter (3-0, 1.19 GAA, .824 sv. pct.) has made 14 saves in her three starts in goal and Root (1-1, 1.33 GAA, .833 sv. pct.) has 15 saves in her three games (two starts).

NEWMAC WEEKLY HONOR
• Furmanek repeated as the NEWMAC Field Hockey Defensive Athlete of the Week Monday afternoon, earning the honor for the fourth time in her career.
• The Babson veteran goalie split a pair of starts against top-10 teams (No. 7 Bates and No. 1 Middlebury) posting a 0.99 goals against average and a .750 save percentage.

NEWMAC DOMINANCE
• Babson has won 59 consecutive NEWMAC regular season games going back to October 20, 2015. The last regular season loss was a 1-0 verdict at Mount Holyoke on October 17, 2015.
• The Beavers have captured 31 straight contests against NEWMAC opponents, including the conference tournament, since the start of the 2021 campaign. The last setback was a 3-2 overtime loss to MIT in the 2019 NEWMAC title game.

BEAVER BITES
• The 12 Babson goals this season have come from seven different players.
• The DiGiovanni sisters have accounted for six of the 12 Beaver goals this fall.
• Since 2019, the Beavers are 33-5 in the month of September against all teams other than Middlebury.

NUMBERS TO KNOW
• The Green and White have won their last 57 games over the past four campaigns when leading at halftime.
• The Beavers are 23-1 since the start of last season and 102-4 since 2017 when scoring at least two goals.
• Babson has dropped just three of 92 contests since 2018 when holding opponents to less than two goals.
