Alex Fascilla (Huntington, N.Y.) made 18 saves in goal as No. 10/13 Babson College rolled past Springfield College, 19-8, to capture its second straight New England Women's and Men's Athletic Association (NEWMAC) men's lacrosse championship Saturday afternoon at MacDowell Field.
With its fourth consecutive victory, Babson improves to 15-3 overall and earns the conference's automatic berth into the NCAA Division III Tournament while Springfield winds up its season at 7-10.

Graduate student Mason Nocito (Mahopac, N.Y.) led the Pride with four goals and an assist, classmate Kevin Tierney (Glastonbury, Conn.) finished with two goals and an assist and sophomore Matt Webb (Northport, N.Y.) added a goal and a helper. Junior Vincent Scialdone (Yorktown Heights, N.Y.) won 14-of-28 face-offs and scooped up a game-high seven ground balls and classmate Kaden Quirk (Nahant, Mass.) made 12 saves in goal in the setback.
The Beavers burst out of the dam with four goals in the first eight minutes of the game, one each by senior
Ford Carney (Garden City, N.Y.), Rainville, Rauss and Mondello. Nocito answered with back-to-back goals for the visitors before senior
Max Iannone (Westport, Conn.) fired one in with six seconds to go in the frame to give the hosts a 5-2 lead after one.
The Pride tallied two of the first three goals of the second quarter to pull to within 6-4 but Babson notched four consecutive goals to close out the half, including a goal and an assist from Mallett, to take a 10-4 lead the break.
Each team scored three times in the first 10 minutes of the third quarter as the visitors hung within striking distance, trailing 13-7 with less than five minutes to go in the quarter, but Babson pulled away with goals by Mallett and Tauss to end the third and Rainville, Wang and senior
Christian Brofft (Pottstown, Pa.) to start the fourth, opening up an 18-7 margin.
Babson finished with a 55-42 advantage in shots and 43-28 margin in ground balls. The Green and White were 1-for-2 in man-up situations and Springfield was 2-for-5 with the man advantage.

GAME NOTES
• Babson has won six of the last eight games against Springfield since 2018 but is just 9-32 all-time against the Pride.
• The Beavers snapped a 10-game losing streak in NEWMAC playoff games against Springfield dating back to 2001.
• The Green and White are 9-0 at MacDowell Field this season and have won 13 in a row at home dating back to last season.
• Rainville set the Babson single-season record with 74 goals, breaking the mark of 71 by Josh Shaffer in 1995, and his 98 points are second to only Shaffer's 102 in 1995.
• Bower became the second player in program history with 40 assists in a season and trails only Chris Grant, who had 47 assists in 1979.
