First-year Dylan Young (Stafford, Va.) earned a no-decision after allowing four runs on five hits over 7.1 innings, while junior Ben Fosberg (Natick, Mass.) dropped to 2-2 with the loss. He allowed one run on one hit to go along with a strikeout and a walk in 1.2 innings of work.
Both teams left runners on in each of the first two innings before the Green and White put together a two-out rally to grab the lead in the third. Savage singled to right to bring home first-year
Alexander Wilson (Millburn, N.J.), who led off the frame with a base hit, graduate student
John Nowak (Pelham, N.Y.) doubled to left and Basile walked to load the bases before Kiely ripped a single to right center to plate a pair of runs for a 3-0 advantage.
With runners on the corners, the Beavers executed a double steal as Basile broke for home when junior Owen Davis' (Bristol, Conn.) throw went down to second to make it a 4-0 game. Milone cruised through the middle innings, retiring seven in a row at one point, senior
Tristen Spalter (Sergeantsville, N.J.) worked around a two-out single in the seventh and junior
Luke McClintock (South Hamilton, Mass.) got a strikeout to strand a pair of runners in the seventh before Johnson & Wales finally broke through in the eighth.
A walk and an error preceded Botelho's RBI double down the line in left, sophomore Jack Obert (Plymouth, Mass.) plated Davis with an RBI ground out and Fortes singled through the right side with two outs to make it 4-3. Graduate student
Zach Magee (Indianapolis, Ind.) got out of bases-loaded jam with a ground out but started the ninth by walking senior Riley Hasson (South Portland, Maine), who came home to tie the game on Botelho's sacrifice fly to force extra innings.
Wolff needed just seven pitches to get through the top of the 10th and Tanner walked to start the bottom of frame. Savage reached on an infield single and both runners moved into scoring position on a sacrifice bunt by senior
Mike Swierczynski (Wallingford, Conn.). Junior Nick Calenda (Warren, R.I.) came on in relief of Fosberg and the Wildcats brought the infield in but Tanner raced home from third on Basile's grounder to second and slid around the tag of Davis for the game-winning run.
Both teams return to action on Saturday as Babson travels to Coast Guard for a doubleheader starting at 12 p.m., while Johnson & Wales hosts Lasell for a twin bill beginning at 1 p.m.
