BABSON PARK, Mass.— Junior
Wesley Zhang (Staten Island, N.Y.) and first-year
Caymus Choi (Hong Kong, China) recorded wins in both singles and doubles and No. 32 Babson College swept the singles matches on the way to a 7-2 victory over No. 18 University of Mary Washington in a non-conference men's tennis match Sunday afternoon at the Babson Tennis Courts.
With the victory, Babson has won five of its last six matches to move to 9-8 overall while Mary Washington had a two-match winning streak stopped and dropped to 12-5 on the season.
Zhang and Choi teamed up for a victory at third doubles before Choi won in straight sets at third singles and Zhang pulled out a third-set super-breaker to take his match at sixth singles. The Beavers also got singles wins from first-year

Ole Lepsoe (Oslo, Norway) at number two, graduate student

The visiting Eagles won the first two matches as first-years Albert Vladimirskiy (Reston, Va.) and John Riordan (Lynchburg, Va.) defeated Lepsoe and graduate student
Jonah Wilson (Gilbert, Ariz.) at number two doubles, 8-4, and seniors Rishi Charan Shankar (Richmond, Va.) and Peter Leese (Moorestown, N.J.) defeated downed Watson and first-year
Logan Back (Busan, South Korea) at number one, 8-5. Zhang and Choi put Babson on the board with an 8-4 verdict over first-years Evan Fisher (Richmond, Va.) and Trevor Rein (Scottsdale, Ariz.) at number three, 8-4.
Choi and Watson took the middle two singles matches to put the Beavers in the lead as Choi defeated senior Artis Hart (Oakton, Va.) at number three, 6-0, 6-4, and Watson got past Rein at number four, 6-4, 6-2. Lepsoe knocked off junior Brock Ladehoff (Bradenton, Fla.) at number two, 6-4, 6-3, before Ozlale captured the number one singles match over Shankar, 6-4, 6-3, to close out the team decision. Gonzalez and Zhang finished off the match with third-set super-breakers in the bottom two slots, Gonzalez defeating Leese at number five, 6-2, 4-6, 1-0 (10-2), and Zhang edging Vladimirskiy at number six, 6-2, 4-6, 1-0 (10-5).
The Beavers will play a match for the third straight day when they travel to Coast Guard on Monday for a conference make-up match at 3:30 p.m. in New London, Conn. Mary Washington returns home to host North Carolina Wesleyan on Wednesday at 3:30 p.m.
