Jared Rainville (Watertown, Conn.) tallied five points on four goals and an assist and No. 13 USILA/No. 11 USA Lacrosse Babson College ran off seven consecutive third-quarter goals to pull away from Salve Regina University, 18-9, in New England Women's and Men's Athletic Association (NEWMAC) men's lacrosse action Saturday afternoon at Gaudet Field.
With the victory, Babson set a program record with its 10th win in a row, improving to 11-2 overall, and clinched at least a share of the NEWMAC regular season title with a 5-0 conference mark. Salve Regina lost its second straight contest and fell to 4-7 overall and 3-2 in its first year in the NEWMAC.

Senior Liam Cooney (Portsmouth, R.I.) scored three goals and added two assists for the Seahawks, and sophomore Daniel Naglieri (Westhampton Beach, N.Y.) tallied a goal and two assists. Senior Max Beauchamp (Saunderstown, R.I.) scored twice, senior Jack Naglieri (Westhampton Beach, N.Y.) recorded three caused turnovers and four ground balls, and sophomore William Kein (Summit, N.J.) and first-year Andrew Hazard (Glastonbury, Conn.) combined for 23 saves in the Seahawk goal.
The hosts had an early 3-2 lead with three minutes to go in the opening quarter before Rooney, Turco and Rainville rattled off three goals in the closing minutes of the frame and junior
Colt Bordonaro (Portland, Ore.) and Smith scored the first two of the second quarter to put the Beavers ahead, 7-3. Cooney and sophomore Chris Koltzan (East Quogue, N.Y.) answered for Salve to break the momentum, but Rooney scored late in the half to give the visitors an 8-5 lead at the break.
After the teams traded two goals each in the first nine minutes of the third quarter, Babson erupted for seven goals in the final five and a half minutes. Tauss and Wang scored three each and Rainville added one, as the Beaver lead ballooned to 10 goals, 17-7. The Seahawks scored two of the three goals in the fourth quarter, but the damage had been done.
Babson finished with a 62-36 advantage in shots and 39-27 margin in ground balls. The Beavers scored three times on five opportunities with the extra man.
The Green and White will face a tough test on Tuesday with a visit to No. 6/6 Tufts for a 7 p.m. contest in Medford. Salve Regina plays a conference game next Saturday at Springfield at 12 p.m.
GAME NOTES
• Babson is 3-1 all-time against Salve Regina in a series that dates back to 2009 although Saturday's game was the first contest between the two teams since 2011.
• The Beavers have won 11 straight NEWMAC regular season games going back to last season and are 17-3 against conference foes in since the start of the 2021 campaign.
• The 10-game winning streak for the Green and White breaks the mark of nine wins in a row produced in 2016.
• The Beavers are 10-1 this year and 19-3 since the start of last season when winning at least 50 percent of the faceoffs.
