No. 27 Men's Tennis Falls to No. 4 Case Western Reserve in Final Match at Stag-Hen Invitational, 7-0

CLAREMONT, Calif.— The 27th-ranked Babson College men's tennis team suffered a 7-0 defeat to defending national champion and fourth-ranked Case Western Reserve University Saturday afternoon on the final day of the Stag-Hen Invitational hosted by the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Colleges and Pomona-Pitzer College.
 
The Beavers, who finished fourth in a field of eight nationally-ranked teams in the two-day tournament, drop to 4-7 on the season, with six of the losses to ranked Division III teams and the other to a Division I school. Case Western, which was knocked off by No. 6 Bowdoin in the second round on Friday, finishes third in the tournament and is now 14-4 on the season.
 
Senior Vishwa Aduru (Austin, Texas) and graduate student Diego Maza (Walnut Creek, Calif.) were double winners for the Spartans. The duo, ranked 13th in Division III in doubles, registered a 6-3 win over junior Brady Anderson (Rochester, N.Y.) and graduate student Andrew Watson (Charlottesville, Va.) at No. 1 doubles. Aduru then defeated first-year Kerem Ozlale (Istanbul, Turkey) at No. 1 singles, 7-6, 6-1, and Maza cruised past first-year Logan Back (Busan, South Korea) at No. 6 singles, 6-0, 6-1.
 
Case Western finished off the doubles sweep as senior Sahil Dayal (Superior Township, Mich.) and sophomore Anmay Devaraj (Austin, Texas), ranked 22nd in Division III, knocked off junior Ole Lepsoe (Oslo, Norway) and first-year Caymus Choi (Hong Kong, China) at No. 2 doubles, 7-5; and seniors Daniel French (Austin, Texas) and Yuvraj Narang (Ventura, Calif.) defeated Ozlale and Back at No. 3 doubles, 6-2.
 
Junior Ajay Mahenthiran (Indianapolis, Ind.), ranked sixth in Division III singles, posted a 6-1, 7-5 victory over Anderson at second singles, and grad student Michael Sutanto (Woodinville, Wash.) won a second-set tiebreaker to down senior Jose Gonzalez (Asheville, N.C.) at third singles, 6-0, 7-6 (7-2). Junior Ansh Shah (Oak Brook, Ill) finished off Watson at fourth singles, 6-3, 6-3, and classmate Casey Hishinuma (Palatine, Ill.), ranked 28th in Division III, defeated Choi in the fifth flight, 6-1, 6-2.
 
 The Green and White return to Babson Park for the home opener and the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) debut against Clark next Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at the Babson Tennis Courts.
