CAMBRIDGE, Mass.—The Babson College women's swimming & diving team set their second school record of the weekend on the way to finishing seventh at the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Championships inside the Zesiger Sports and Fitness Center Pool on Sunday night.
The Beavers totaled 88 points on the final day of competition to finish the weekend with 284 points and in seventh place for the fifth consecutive season. Fifth-ranked MIT claimed its 13th straight NEWMAC title with 1565.5 points, Coast Guard came in second with 750 points, while Wheaton (713), Springfield (693.5) and Wellesley (595) rounded out the top five.
Babson's top individual performance of the day came in the 1650 free as junior
Kendall Garvey (Wilbraham, Mass.) shattered a program record by more than 25 seconds and finished 11th with a time of 18:16.30. Sophomore
Vangella Randell (Holden, Mass.) came in 17th with a season-best time of 18:51.11, classmate
Emma Chenski (Hopewell Junction, N.Y.) was 21st with her top time of the season (19:28.94) and fellow sophomore
Dahiana Gussoni (Jaco, Costa Rica) was less than two seconds behind her with a season-best time of 19:30.20 in 24th position.
Senior
April Kupsky (Bear Creek, Pa.) concluded her career with a pair of strong performances on Sunday. She placed 10th in the A final of the 200 butterfly with a time of 2:13.80 after posting a season-best mark of 2:12.10 in the prelims. Kupsky also finished fourth in the B final of the 200 backstroke with a season-best time of 2:10.23.
Senior
Sophia Swain (Burnt Hills, N.Y.) qualified for the B final of the 200 butterfly with a season-best time of 2:16.64 and then placed fifth by touching the wall with a time of 2:18.07. Classmate
Vera Belfonti (Orange, Conn.), who broke an 18-year school record in the 100 butterfly on Saturday, narrowly missed the finals in the 200 after posting a time of 2:20.33 in the prelims.
Sophomore
Sophia Sznewajs (Edina, Minn.) fell short of qualifying for the finals in the 100 free by 0.12 seconds after recording a time of 54.69 in the prelims. Five other Babson competitors posted their top times of the season in the event, highlighted by junior

Emily Tran (Longmeadow, Mass.) finishing in 55.15 and 55.76, respectively.

Catherine Curry (Melrose, Mass.) came in sixth with a time of 3:40.29, while
Elina Sung (Dongguan, China) placed 20th in the 3-meter diving prelims with an 11-dive score of 228.85.
