BABSON PARK, Mass.—Graduate student Rachel Vinton (Rutland, Mass.) made her first seven shots and scored a game-high 20 points to help visiting Springfield College defeat Babson College, 65-53, in New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) women's basketball action on Saturday afternoon inside Staake Gymnasium. 
Babson, which has dropped its last two games, slips to 11-12 overall and 5-4 in conference play. Springfield has won X consecutive games and improves to 19-4 overall and 8-1 in the NEWMAC. 
Junior 
Katelyn Mollica (Foxborough, Mass.) scored nine points and classmate 
Camilla Silk (Medfield, Mass.) added eight points and seven rebounds to lead the Beavers. Sophomore 
Chloe Perreault (Danbury, Conn.) and first-year 
Samantha Reale (North Attleboro, Mass.) both chipped in with seven points apiece in the loss. 
Junior Angela Czeremcha (West Springfield, Mass.) finished with 15 points and game highs of 14 rebounds and four steals for the Pride, which put four players in double figures. 
Springfield raced out to a 7-0 lead and got a three-point from Vinton and a layup by Czeremcha to make it 14-4 less than five minutes into the contest. Vinton scored the first eight points of the second quarter and then followed up five straight points by senior Jalen Daubon (Hyde Park, N.Y.) with a three-point play to extend the margin to 35-15 with 1:44 to go before halftime. 
The Green and White got four points from Reale and a jumper by Perreault to close the gap to 35-21 at the break, but got outscored 14-7 over the first 5:23 of the third quarter as Springfield took its largest advantage of the game at 49-28 on a free throw by sophomore Amanda Leary (Westbury, N.Y.). Emily Flynn (Hanover, Mass.) sparked an 11-3 run as the Beavers cut their deficit to 52-39 on a hoop by sophomore 
Allessia Carlo (Carmel, N.Y.) late in the period. 
Czeremcha scored inside to end the third and followed a layup by Vinton with another hoop as the visitors regained a 58-39 edge with just over seven minutes to play. 
Babson shot 40.4 percent from the floor but was just 4-of-21 (19 percent) from three-point range and got outrebounded 28-25. Springfield shot 52.9 percent and outscored the Beavers 34-22 in the paint. 
Both teams return to action on Wednesday as Babson hosts Mount Holyoke at 6 p.m., while Springfield takes on Clark at 7 p.m. 
GAME NOTES
•    The Beavers are 34-16 all-time against Springfield but have dropped three straight games in the series. 
•    Prior to Saturday, the home team had won the last seven games between Babson and the Pride. 
•    The Beavers gave up more than 60 points for just the third time in 10 home games on Saturday. 
•    Babson allowed an opponent to shoot better than 50 percent for just the fourth time in 83 games over the last three sesaons on Saturday.
