USTFCCCA Release
NEW ORLEANS—Babson College graduate student
Anthony Rodriguez (Prairie View, Ill.) was officially recognized when the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) announced its 2024 Division III All-Americans on Monday afternoon.Â
Rodriguez became the Beavers' first All-America honoree in cross country by finishing 38th overall with a time of 24:41 in a field of 294 runners at last Saturday's Division III National Championship meet on the LaVern Gibson Course in Terre Haute, Ind. It was his third fastest 8k time of the season and the fifth best all-time for Rodriguez, who was making his third appearance at nationals after finishing 165th in 2021 and 164th in 2022. Â
The top 40 finishers at the national championship meet are awarded All-America honors by the USTFCCCA.Â
The most decorated harrier in program history, Rodriguez earned All-New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) and USTFCCCA All-East Region honors for the fourth consecutive season this fall. He was the runner-up at the conference meet with a time of 24:42 at Nehoiden Golf Club in Wellesley, Mass., back on November 2 and then came in10th at the regional championship with a time of 25:03 in Hopkinton, N.H., on November 16.Â
Rodriguez owns the nine fastest times in program history and is the only Babson runner to break 25 minutes in the 8k, a feat that he achieved seven times over the last four seasons. Overall, he has posted 14 of the top 18 times in Babson history.Â
Rodriguez's All-America recognition caps a historic season for the Beavers, who finished third at the conference championship and a program-best sixth at the NCAA East Regional while posting their lowest point totals at both meets.Â
