WEST HARTFORD, Conn.—Junior Tyshawn Jackson (Hartford, Conn.) made four free throws over the final 32 seconds as the University of Saint Joseph held on to defeat visiting Babson College, 79-76, in non-conference men's basketball action at James A. Calhoun Court on Wednesday night.
Babson drops to 1-2 on the year with loss while Saint Joseph, which has played three straight one-possession games, improves to 2-1 overall.

Nate Amado (Hanson, Mass.) finished with 21 points, nine rebounds and three assists, while first-year
Timmy Mulvey (Reading, Mass.) went 5-of-7 from three-point range on the way to scoring 17 points and grabbing five boards for the Beavers. Graduate student
Felix Kloman (Ipswich, Mass.) added 15 points and three blocks in the loss.
Junior Friedrich Feldrappe (Berlin, Germany) scored a career-high 29 points on 9-of-13 shooting to go along with six rebounds and four assists to lead four players in double figures for the Blue Jays. Jackson went 9-of-10 at the free throw line and finished with 15 points, senior Kevin Cummings (Portsmouth, N.H.) scored 12 points on 5-of-7 shooting and senior Tahmeen Dupree (Brooklyn, N.Y.) provided 10 points in the victory.
The first half featured three ties and five lead changes with the Green and White going up by as many as six three times, the last coming at 24-18 on a layup by sophomore
NeJohn Fortes (New Bedford, Mass.) at the 7:24 mark. Saint Joseph responded with a 12-3 run to go in front 30-27 and Feldrappe scored his team's next seven points as the hosts carried a 39-37 edge into the break.
The Beavers scored on five of their first seven possessions to begin the second half, which included back-to-back layups by junior
Timmy O'Toole (Milton, Mass.) to regain a 48-46 advantage with 16:07 to play. Mulvey buried a three-pointer and Amado followed with a bucket in the paint to keep Babson ahead 53-50, while Kloman scored five straight points to make it 64-all with 6:47 remaining.
Cummings broke the deadlock with a three-pointer on the next possession and the Blue Jays pushed the margin to as many as five four times over the next three-plus minutes. Fortes and Amado sandwiched buckets around a layup by Jackson to cut the Beavers' deficit to 75-72 with 3:04 to go, and Amando made it a one-point game with another hoop the paint with 1:24 remaining.

Ryan Frauenheim (Manasquan, N.J.) was unable to connect on a pair of three-point looks in the waning seconds.
The Beavers shot a season-high 48.4 percent from the floor and scored 15 second-chance points after finishing with a 37-26 edge on the glass. The Blue Jays shot 56 percent in the first half and 50 percent for the game while outscoring the Green and White 19-5 from the free throw line.
Babson will meet UMass Dartmouth in its home opener on Saturday at 1 p.m., while Saint Joseph travels to Nichols next Monday at 7:30 p.m.

• Mulvey has knocked down five three-pointers in back-to-back games and is shooting 63.6 percent (14-of-22) from beyond the arc over the team's first three contests.
