BABSON PARK, Mass.—Nine different competitors recorded an individual victory to help Babson College defeat visiting Clark University, 206-72, in a dual meet inside Morse Pool on Saturday afternoon.
The Beavers won 14 of 16 events on the day and got multiple first-place finishes from senior
Audrey Daniels (Santa Monica, Calif.) and first-years
Samantha Gilbert (Arlington, Va.) and
Julia Netishen (Exeter, N.H.). Daniels won the 50-yard breaststroke in a time of 33.15 and the 100 free in 56.71, Gilbert took the 100 butterfly in a time of 1:01.35 and the 100 breaststroke in 1:12.25, and Netishen touched the wall first in the 50 free (24.83) and 100 backstroke (1:01.13).
Senior
Emily Tran (Longmeadow, Mass.) came in first in the 50 back with a time of 28.50, junior
Vangella Randell (Holden, Mass.) won the 1000 free in a time of 11:41.18 and sophomore
Sylvie Racicot (Arlington, Mass.) paced the field in the 200 free with a time of 2:04.39. First-year
Tuana Turhan (Lake Forest, Ill.) won the 500 free with a time of 5:38.69, classmate
Marta Gershanok (Closter, N.J.) touched the wall first in the 100 IM (1:05.83) and senior
Elina Sung (Dongguan, China) followed up a second-place showing on the 1-meter diving board with a first-place finish on the 3-meter board with a score of 149.40.
First-year
Maryan Guzman (Norwalk, Conn.) was the runner-up in both the 50 butterfly (28.48) and 100 IM (1:07.00) in addition to taking third place with a time of 1:03.36 in the 100 butterfly. Senior
Kendall Garvey (Wilbraham, Mass.) finished second with a time of 5:40.69 in the 500 free and third in the 200 free (2:08.06), and sophomore
Nicolette Newsome (Bridgewater, N.J.) produced a second-place result with a time of 2:06.94 in the 200 free to go along with third-place finishes in the 100 free and 50 butterfly.
Senior
Sophia Silver (Fayetteville, N.Y.) was the runner-up in the 1000 free with a time of 12:03.52 and classmate
Maggie Cassily (Rye, N.H.) took second place in the 50 back with a time of 29.96. Racicot finished second in the 50 free (25.76) and Gershanok added a runner-up finish with a time of 1:15.56 in the 100 breaststroke.
Babson also took first place in both relay events as Gershanok, Gilbert, Turhan and Netishen won the 200 medley with a time of 1:54.10, while the quartet of Daniels, Racicot, Cassily and Newsone posted a time of 1:43.21 in the 200 free.
The Beavers return to action on November 15 when they host Stonehill at 5 p.m.
