BABSON PARK, Mass.--All 15 Babson College competitors helped contribute to a 182-97 win over Division I Stonehill College on Friday night inside Morse Pool.
The Beavers won 14 out of 16 events contested on the evening with first-years
Tuana Turhan (Lake Forest, Ill.) and
Julia Netishen (Exeter, N.H.) leading the way. The two kicked off the night combining for a win alongside
Audrey Daniels (Santa Monica, Calif.) and
Sylvie Racicot (Arlington, Mass.) as the relay swam to a win in the 400 medley relay touching in a time of 4:03.68. The relay finished ahead of Stonehill by over five seconds.
Turhan walked away with three individual wins while Netishen won two events of her own. Turhan swept the butterfly events, clocking in at 58.74 in the 100 butterfly to improve upon her previous best time of a 58.89 which made her the program's number three performer all-time. She also won the 200 butterfly with a time of 2:10.36 and the 200 IM in 2:13.91.
Netishen earned her first individual win in the 50 free, touching in a time of 24.47. She notably is the school record holder in the event after posting a 24.15 last month against Bentley. Her second win came in the 100 free as she touched in a 55.31.
Netishen was also a member of the 200 freestyle relay that closed the night with a win. The relay of Daniels, senior
Emily Tran (Longmeadow, Mass.), Racicot, and Netishen touched in a time of 1:41.14. Netishen had the fastest split of the relay as she anchored in 24.20. Racicot also dipped under the 25-second mark as she swam a 24.77 on the third leg.
Senior
Kendall Garvey (Wilbraham, Mass.) had a busy night, winning both the 500 and 1000 freestyle events. Garvey, the school record holder in the 1650 freestyle, earned her first win touching in a time of 11:20.18 in the 1000 freestyle, leading a one-two finish as sophomore
Nicolette Newsome touched in a time of 11:37.48. Later in the evening, Garvey led another one-two finish as she touched in at 5:36.02 in the 500 freestyle while junior
Vangella Randell touched in at 5:42.81.
Babson swept the diving events as well as senior
Elina Sung (Dongguan, China ) captured the 1-meter event with a score of a 138.15 and the 3-meter event with a 142.25.
Other individual event winners included first-year
Samantha Gilbert (Arlington, Va.), who won the 200 freestyle in 2:02.25, Tran who won the 100 backstroke in a 1:02.47, and first-year
Marta Gershanok (Closter, N.J. ) who touched first in the 200 backstroke in a time of 2:14.62. Gershanok moves up to number eight in school history in the event with her time.
The Beavers will be back in action on November 22-23 as they travel to Roger Williams for the Fisher Invitational, a two-day prelims and finals meet.
