Box Score 2 MIDDLETOWN, Conn.—The Babson College men's tennis played three sets of doubles matches and two sets of singles matches against opponents from Wesleyan University and Sacred Heart University on Friday and Saturday at the Wesleyan Invitational.
Friday Highlights
The Beavers went 2-1 in doubles on Friday with junior
Alexander Merson (Palisades, N.J.) and first-year
Edward Wang (Burr Ridge, Ill.) defeating JT Bilski and Harry Collomb of Wesleyan in a tiebreaker, 8-7 (9-7), while rookies
Sebastian Mendoza (Weston, Fla.) and
Mason Nguyen (El Dorado Hills, Calif.) combined to beat Lucca Lafrance and Percy Meehan of Sacred Heart, 8-5.
Three different players recorded a win in singles for the Green and White, which included Wang staying unbeaten on the year with a 6-1, 6-0 triumph over Brennan Hart-Nova of Sacred Heart. Medoza recorded a 6-2, 7-6 (7-4) victory over Milan Karajovic of Sacred Heart, while Nguyen downed Chase Kasday of Wesleyan, 8-6.
Saturday Highlights
Babson played two sets of doubles matches and went 7-1 in singles play on Saturday, highlighted by junior
Alexander Weber (Baech, Switzerland) and sophomore
Mattias Harrell (Oslo, Norway) both going unbeaten. They defeated Arya Alla and Vao Rodriguez of Sacred Heart 6-2 and the Pioneers' duo of Karajovic and Lafrance 6-1 in doubles, and both topped Rodriguez in singles play.
Seniors
Brady Anderson (Rochester, N.Y.) and
Ole Lepsoe (Oslo, Norway) were 7-6 (7-1) winners over Bilski and Collomb of Wesleyan, Merson and Wang topped Paul Goncalves and Connor Liona of Sacred Heart 6-4, and Mendoza and Nguyen edged Litton and Max Lustgarten of Wesleyan, 7-6 (7-4).
Anderson rallied for a 2-6, 6-4, 10-5 win over Bilski, while Merson, Wang, Lepsoe and Nguyen all recorded straight-set victories in singles.
Babson will conclude the fall portion of its schedule with a pair of NEWMAC matches on October 18. The Beavers host Emerson at 12 p.m. before heading to Worcester to face Clark at 4 p.m.
