Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Women's Soccer Rallies Late for 3-2 Win at Wellesley

WELLESLEY, Mass.—Senior Elisa Diletizia (Canton, Mass.) scored the go-ahead goal in the 83rd minute to help visiting Babson College defeat Wellesley College, 3-2, in New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) women's soccer action on Saturday afternoon.

The Beavers, who picked up their first win since September 17, improve to 3-4-3 overall and 1-1-2 in conference play. Wellesley, which had its two-game winning streak snapped, drops to 5-4-1 overall and 1-2 in NEWMAC play.

Junior Meredith Greeley (Ottawa Hills, Ohio) scored a pair of goals, while senior Emma Mumby (Westborough, Mass.), sophomore Ally Clarkson (Reading, Mass.) and first-year Joise Lee (Duxbury, Mass.) each provided an assist for the Beavers. Senior goalkeeper Nora Ryan (Abington, Mass.) stopped six shots in the victory.

Sophomore Olivia Chow-Gillette (Dallas, Texas) and first-year Emma Hogarth (Chandler, Ariz.) both scored for the Blue, which got six saves from junior goalkeeper Riley McNair (Cupertino, Calif.).

Wellesley jumped in front in the 16th minute when Chow-Gillette settled a corner kick at the edge of the six-yard box following a deflection and flicked her finish under the crossbar for her sixth goal of the year. Babson's first-half pressure finally paid off in the 43rd minute though as Greeley scored her first goal of the season with a back-post header following a long cross from the right wing from Mumby.

The Blue took its second lead of the afternoon less than four minutes after halftime when Hogarth pounced on her own rebound for her second marker of the year. A pass across the box took a deflection and found her streaking in all alone near the right post. Her initial shot was denied with a terrific diving save by Ryan but she touched home the loose ball for a 2-1 advantage.

Ryan made another diving stop to push away senior Carrie Huang's (Seattle, Wash.) effort from the top of the box in the 62nd minute and Babson rewarded her when Greeley tapped in a pass from Clarkson to complete her brace in the 77th minute. The Beavers then went in front for good six minutes later when Diletizia tucked Lee's service from the right side of the box back inside the left post for her third goal.

The Green and White outshot Wellesley 17-11 and finished with a 5-3 edge in corner kicks for the match.

Babson returns to action next Saturday when it hosts Mount Holyoke at 11 a.m., while Wellesley travels to Mount Holyoke on Wednesday at 6 p.m.
