Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Fast Start Sends Women's Soccer Past Mount Holyoke, 5-0

BABSON PARK, Mass.—Sophomores Priscilla-Rose Men-Martin (Rolling Hills Estates, Calif.) and Olga Metelkine (Marlboro, N.J.) both scored their first career goals to help Babson College defeat visiting Mount Holyoke College, 5-0, in New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) women's soccer action on Saturday afternoon at Hartwell-Rogers Field.

With the win, Babson improves to 4-4-3 overall and 2-1-2 in conference play. Mount Holyoke is now 3-3-4 overall and 0-3-2 in the NEWMAC.

Seniors Elisa Diletizia (Canton, Mass.) and Laura Lukowicz (Coventry, R.I.) each added a goal and classmate Jordyn Ferrantino (Millis, Mass.) contributed two assists for the Beavers. Sophomore Caroline Sutherland (Millville, Mass.) also recorded her first career point with an assist, while senior Nora Ryan (Abington, Mass.) and sophomore Cleo Grignard (Red Bank, N.J.) combined on the shutout without having to make a save.

Sophomore goalkeeper Evie Krieg (Frisco, Texas) made seven saves in just shy of 68 minutes of action in the loss for the Lyons.

The Green and White did most of its damage early with three goals in the first half-hour of the match. The hosts opened the scoring in the fourth minute when first-year Mack Feeney's (North Attleboro, Mass.) shot drilled off the crossbar before going off the back of a Mount Holyoke defender to make it 1-0.

Men-Martin scored the first goal of her career in the 27th minute, one-touching a shot through traffic off a corner by Ferrantino for a 2-0 advantage. The Beavers added to the lead less than two minutes later, again off a Ferrantino corner, as Lukowicz rose up over a defender to beat Krieg with a driving header for her second marker of the fall to make it 3-0.

Diletizia scored her team-leading fourth goal in the 57th minute as she received a pass from Sutherland just inside the top of the box and pivoted to her right before blasting a shot past Krieg and under the crossbar. Babson put the finishing touches on the victory in the 88th minute when Metelkine gained possession just outside the top of the box and finished inside the right post for her first collegiate marker.

The Beavers outshot the Lyons 22-0 and attempted all eight corner kicks in the match.

Both teams return to action on Wednesday as Babson travels to Emerson at 6 p.m., while Mount Holyoke visits Springfield at 7 p.m.
