Women's Soccer Battles to 0-0 Draw at No. 7 Middlebury

MIDDLEBURY, Vt.—Senior goalkeeper Nora Ryan (Abington, Mass.) made six saves to help Babson College finish in a 0-0 draw at No. 7 Middlebury College in non-conference women's soccer action on Sunday afternoon at Dragone Field.

Babson, which is unbeaten over its last three matches, is now 4-4-4 on the year. Middlebury has tied its last two matches and remains unbeaten on the season at 7-0-5.

Senior Carolyn Kelly (Westborough, Mass.) made two saves for the Panthers, who ended with a 15-6 edge in shots and an 8-3 advantage in corner kicks.

Ryan stopped a pair of shots by senior Abby Ward (Dobbs Ferry, N.Y.) in the first 100 seconds of the match and pushed a header by senior Cate Woolsey (New York, N.Y.) off the crossbar following a corner kick in the fifth minute to keep the game scoreless. She also was well-positioned to catch senior Sophia Cole's (Manhattan Beach, Calif.) shot from distance in the 26th minute.

The Beavers' best scoring chance of the game came off a corner kick by senior Jordyn Ferrantino (Millis, Mass.) in the 55th minute. Sophomore Caroline Sutherland (Millville, Mass.) flicked a shot over the head of Kelly that had to be cleared off the goal line by a Middlebury defender.

The Green and White held the Panthers without a shot on target over the final 28-plus minutes of the game to record its second consecutive shutout and fifth clean sheet of the year.

Babson returns to action on Wednesday when it visits Emerson at 6 p.m., while Middlebury travels to Tufts on Saturday at 2:30 p.m.
