SERIES HISTORY

Brianne McGrath '23 M'24 scored in the closing seconds of the first half to break a scoreless tie and second-ranked and top-seeded Babson went on to a 3-1 victory over 20th-ranked and second-seeded MIT in the NEWMAC championship game on November 4, 2023, at MacDowell Field.

SCOUTING THE BEAVERS
• No. 7 Babson (13-3, 7-0 NEWMAC) brings an eight-game winning streak to Cambridge after posting a 4-1 conference victory over Wellesley on Tuesday at MacDowell Field.

• DiGiovanni (12-4-28) has achieved career highs in all three offensive categories and is tied for fourth in the NEWMAC In goals and ranks fourth in points, while Evans (10-1-21) reached double digits in goals for the first time in her career. Guden (8-3-19) has at least one point in six of her last eight outings, Marguerite (6-4-16) has eight points in her last six games, and Marsh (5-3-13) has eight points in her last seven contests for the Beavers, who have outscored their opponents 62-11.
• Furmanek (0.69 GAA, 37 saves) leads the league in shutouts (9) and ranks sixth in Division III in goals against average.
SCOUTING THE ENGINEERS
• No. 15 MIT (12-3, 7-0 NEWMAC) has won its last eight games including a 7-1 triumph over Mount Holyoke on Tuesday in South Hadley.
• Senior Eva Oppenheim scored twice while Zehner, fellow senior Ashley Lederman, and sophomore Janie Thomas each produced one goal and one assist for the Engineers. Tomovski and sophomore Jane Tortorella both scored once, and Zimmer and senior Anna Duncan combined to make three saves in goal in the win.
• Tomovski (13-7-33) and Oppenheim (13-1-27) are tied for second in the NEWMAC in goals and Tomovski is tied for second in assists. Sophomore Audrey Oh (8-0-16) has six goals in her last five games, and senior Ashley Lederman (4-5-13) and junior Bailey McIntyre (3-6-12) provide a balanced attack for the Engineers, who have outscored their opponents 56-14.
• Zimmer (1.05 GAA, 47 svs.) has started all 15 games in goal for MIT and has combined with Duncan for seven shutouts.
CHECKING THE NEWMAC RACE
• Babson and MIT are tied for first in the NEWMAC, both with 7-0 records, and Saturday's winner will clinch the top seed in the upcoming conference tournament.
• WPI (5-2) is in third place heading into the weekend, and Salve Regina (4-3), Wellesley (4-3) and Smith (3-4) are in solid position to earn the final three playoffs spots.
ON THE DEFENSE
• Babson has conceded just 11 goals in 16 games and ranks 18th in Division III in team goals against average and 15th in shutouts per game.

GOALS DENIED
• Furmanek has allowed just three goals during Babson's eight-game winning streak.
• The senior goaltender recorded her 54th career victory on Tuesday, which is tops among active Division III netminders and ranks second among active goalies in all NCAA Divisions.
• With 63 consecutive starts, Furmanek (54-9) needs just one win to match the program record for career victories set by her predecessor, Cassidy Riley '22, who was 55-11 from 2018-21.
MAKING HER MARK
• Evans has scored a goal in three straight games and nine of her last 10 outings.
• The senior forward upped her career totals to 34 goals and 22 assists for 90 points.
• She ranks 13th in program history in goals, tied for 15th in assists, and needs 10 points to become the 13th player in program history to record 100 career points.
BABSON VS. RANKED TEAMS
• Babson is 8-5 since the start of last year against top-20 opponents and 5-5 against top-10 foes.
• Three of the ranked losses for the Green and White since last year have been to top-ranked Middlebury.
NEWMAC DOMINANCE
• Babson has recorded 66 consecutive NEWMAC regular season wins over the last nine seasons since a 1-0 loss at Mount Holyoke on October 17, 2015.
• The Green and White have captured 38 straight contests against NEWMAC opponents, including the post-season, since a 3-2 overtime loss to MIT in the 2019 conference championship game.
