BABSON PARK, Mass.—Senior

Mason Rosado (Weddington, N.C.) made 30 saves as Babson College defeated the University of Massachusetts Boston, 2-1, in a New England Hockey Conference (NEHC) men's ice hockey match-up Friday evening inside the Babson Skating Center.
The Beavers, playing at home for the first time since December 2, snapped a two-game skid and improved to 10-8-2 overall and 8-4-1 in the NEHC while the Beacons had a two-game winning streak stopped and fell to 7-11-2 overall and 5-8-0 in league play.
Senior
Colby Bailey (Southborough, Mass.) also scored for the Beavers and junior
Wyatt George (Mount Lebanon, Pa.) and sophomores
Nolan Dion (Marshfield, Mass.) and
Ryan Murphy (Grosse Pointe Farms, Mich.) registered assists in the win.
Graduate student Conor Foley (Nahant, Mass.) scored the lone goal for the Beacons with assists from junior Evan Googins (Matawan, N.J.) and sophomore Jude Kurtas (Hillsborough, N.J.). First-year Antonio Tarantino (Phoenix, Ariz.) finished with 33 saves in the setback.
The Beavers needed just 14 seconds after the opening face-off to put a goal on the scoreboard. After Babson won the draw, George hit a streaking Kramer with a pass at the UMB blue line, and Kramer split the defense, went in alone on Tarantino and slid a backhander under the pads for his sixth goal of the season.
The Beacons evened the score with a power play goal at 7:32, as Foley ripped a shot from the left circle over Rosado's shoulder on a feed from Googins for his sixth of the season. The home team had an 18-11 shot advantage in the opening frame but settled for the 1-1 tie.
The Green and White pulled ahead midway through the second period with a power play goal of their own. Bailey fired a shot from the high slot on a feed from Kramer past a screened goalie, connecting on his fourth goal of the season. The visitors had an 11-10 shot advantage in the middle stanza but just the one goal was scored.
The two goaltenders kept the puck out of the net in the third period. UMB had a power play opportunity with four minutes remaining but couldn't convert and could not get a shot on goal after pulling Tarantino for an extra skater with 1:20 remaining.
Babson finished with a 35-31 advantage in shots on goal. The Beavers went 1-for-3 on the power play and killed off four of five Beacon opportunities with the man advantage.
Both teams are back in action on Saturday at 4 p.m. as Babson hosts Johnson & Wales and UMass Boston visits Southern Maine.
