Game Recap: Men's Ice Hockey |

Men's Ice Hockey Gets Past Johnson & Wales, 3-1

BABSON PARK, Mass.—Sophomores Cam Joslin (Cohasset, Mass.) and Ian Driscoll (Middleton, Mass.) registered a goal and an assist each and first-year goalie Mason Rosado (Weddington, N.C.) made 24 saves as Babson College skated past Johnson & Wales University, 3-1, in New England Hockey Conference (NEHC) men's ice hockey action Saturday afternoon inside the Babson Skating Center.

The Beavers won their second game in a row and improved to 11-8-2 overall and 9-4-1 in the NEHC while the Wildcats lost for the sixth time in their last seven outings to drop to 5-14-2 overall and 2-11-1 in league play.

Junior Wyatt George (Mount Lebanon, Pa.) added a goal for the Beavers and sophomores Brendan Kennedy (Georgetown, Ontario), Nolan Dion (Marshfield, Mass.) and Ryan Murphy (Grosse Pointe Farms, Mich.) collected assists in the victory.

Senior Brett Rickett (Portland, Maine) scored the lone goal for the Wildcats with assists from classmate Maxine Dumas (Quebec City, Quebec) and first-year Chris Alexander (Los Angeles, Calif.). Junior Jacob Perrin (Chelmsford, Mass.) made 31 saves in goal but took the loss.

The Beavers scored the only goal of the first period when Driscoll caused a turnover at the JWU blue line, Joslin collected the puck and fired a shot from the right face-off circle that went off Perrin's shoulder and into the net at 13:24 for his fifth of the season.

The Green and White doubled the lead with a power play goal at 6:35 of the second period as Driscoll beat Perrin stick side with a shot that went in just inside left post off a feed from Kennedy. The Wildcats cut the margin in half with three minutes left in the frame when Rickett buried his own rebound for his 12th goal of the season.

Johnson & Wales outshot the hosts 8-4 in the third period but could not convert the tying goal. George rounded out the scoring with an empty netter with one second remaining.

Babson finished with a 34-25 advantage in shots on goal, including 18-7 in the second period. The Beavers went 1-for-2 on the power play and killed off all six Wildcat opportunities with the man advantage.

Both teams are back on the ice on Friday at 7 p.m. as Babson travels to No. 9 Skidmore and Johnson & Wales returns home to host No. 1 Hobart.
