Cross Country Resumes Competition Saturday at the Dickinson (Pa.) Long-Short Invitational

Meet Information

THE SETUP
• After a two-week break from competition, the Babson men's and women's cross country teams will compete in the Dickinson Long-Short Invitational on Saturday in Newville, Pa.
• The Beavers men's squad will compete on the 8K course for the first time this season and the women's contingent will be on the 6K course.
• The race will include numerous regionally and nationally ranked teams and runners on what will be the national championship course in November.

SCOUTING THE BABSON MEN
• The Beavers are coming off a third-place finish among eight schools at the Smith College Invitational in their last outing back on September 9 in Northampton, Mass.
• Senior Anthony Rodriguez took third place out of 68 runners with a time of 16:14 on the 5K course, just 13 second behind winner David Reynolds of WPI. Junior Julian Ivarra was the next Babson finisher, crossing the line in 19th place in a time of 17:07.
• The Green and White had five of the six finishers across the line between 24th and 29th place within a span of 28 seconds. First-year Ethan Jina and sophomore Max Gregoire placed 24th and 25th in times of 17:32 and 17:34, respectively, while first-years Brian GallAlmond Nickerson IV and Jack Gramer came in 27-28-29 in times of 17:43, 17:51 and 18:00, respectively. Rounding out the Beaver runners was first-year Niko Manolakos, who was 55th in 20:47.

SCOUTING THE BABSON WOMEN
• The Beavers finished in sixth place out of nine schools at the Smith College Invitational in their last race back on September 9 in Northampton, Mass.
• Sophomore Alexandra Kirkpatrick was Babson's top finisher in 31st place out of 102 competitors, finishing the 5K race in a time of 21:16. Senior Alyssa Keith and junior Eujin Shin placed 47th and 48th in 22:20 and 22:29, respectively.
• Sophomore Avery Butt was Babson's fourth finisher in 54th place in 22:45, followed by first-year Colleen Corman in 69th in 24:42. Rounding out the Babson competitors was sophomore Mariana Valencia in 75th place in 25:32.

BABSON MEN IN THE RANKINGS
• The Babson men are sixth in this week's East Region rankings released by the US Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) and third among schools from schools from the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC).
• The top five in the poll include MIT, Tufts, Bates, Bowdoin and WPI. Rounding out the poll behind Babson are Suffolk, Plymouth State, Colby and Brandeis.

BEAVER BITES FOR THE BABSON WOMEN
• The Babson women's roster is filled with underclassmen as the 11-member team includes just one senior and a pair of juniors.
• Four of Babson's top six finishers in the last race included three sophomores and one first-year.

UP NEXT
• The Beavers will compete in their final regular season race on October 14 at the Connecticut College Invitational at Harkness Park in Waterford, Conn.
