WESTWOOD, Mass.— Two members of the Babson College women's cross country programs were recognized for their hard work and success in the classroom when the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) released its 2024 Academic All-Conference team on Thursday.
Sophomores
Colleen Corman (Quaker Hill, Conn.) and
Taijah Harvey (Concord, Mass.) were both named to the All-Academic squad for the first time in their careers.
A business major, Corman competed in five races for the Beavers this season. She posted a time of 23:18 in her first 5K race at the UMass Dartmouth Invitational on September 21 and a 22:34 at the Keene State Invitational on October 5. She ran a career-best 27:27 in her first 6K race of the season at the Connecticut College Invitational on October 19, and finished in 28:32 at the NEWMAC Championships on November 2.
A business major, Harvey also competed in five races for the Beavers this fall. She turned in a time of 21:41 to finish sixth on the team in her first 5K race at the UMass Dartmouth Invitational on September 21 and produced a career-best 21:20 at the Keene State Invitational on October 5. She was the team's seventh-best finisher in her two 6K races, clocking a career-best 25:38 at the Connecticut College Invitational on October 19 and a 26:42 at the NEWMAC Championships on November 2.
The Babson women finished seventh out of 12 teams at the NEWMAC Championships and 16th out of 37 schools at the NCAA East Region Championships.
Academic all-conference honorees must have met the following criteria: earned a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.5/4.0 scale after the 2024 spring semester, achieved second year academic status, and been a member of the team for the entire season.
