Hagstrom Breaks Nine-Year-Old Mark in 400-Meter Hurdles
CAMBRIDGE, Mass.—All five competitors achieved new personal bests and sophomore Angela Hagstrom (Portsmouth, N.H.) broke a nine-year-old school record in the 400-meter hurdles as the Babson College men's and women's track & field teams concluded the season at the MIT Final Qualifier on Thursday evening.
Hagstrom posted a time of 1:04.72 to break Imani Smith's '14 record set back in 2014. First-year Brooke Jankowski (Methuen, Mass.) capped an impressive rookie season by placing sixth in the finals of the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 14.85, while senior Lauren Zatulove (Los Angeles, Calif.) concluded her career with a career-best throw of 34-feet, 5-inches that was good for fourth place in the shot put.
On the men's side, sophomore Jack Reynolds (Fairfield, Conn.) came in sixth by clearing 6-feet, 2-inches in the high jump, while graduate student Ryan Wilson (Mount Sinai, N.Y.) crossed the finish line with a career-best time of 4:01.24 in his final collegiate race in the 1500 meters.
Junior Eric Bottern (Saint Paul, Minn.), who did not compete on Thursday, will officially be selected to participate in the shot put at the NCAA Division III Championships on Friday night.
