Five from Track & Field Compete at NEICAAA Championships

DEDHAM, Mass.— Five Babson College track and field athletes fiinshed between 12th and 16th place among Divisions I, II and III competitors in their respective events at the New England Intercollegiate Amateur Athletic Association (NEICAAA) championships Friday afternoon, hosted by Northeastern University at the Solomon Track and Field facility.

Junior Michael Agard (Marietta, Ga.) posted the top finish for the Beavers, placing 12th out of 27 sprinters in the preliminaries of the 100-meter dash in a time of 10.97 seconds, just eight one-hundredths of a second off his season best time. He also placed 21st in the long jump with a leap of 20-feet, 9.25-inches.

Sophomore Jack Reynolds (Fairfield, Conn.) matched his career high in the high jump, clearing 6-feet, 2.75-inches to place 13th. Sophomore Julian Ivarra (Plano, Texas) took 15th place out of 28 runners in the 10,000 meters in a time of 32:22.58.

On the women's side, first-year Brooke Jankowski (Methuen, Mass.) finished 14th out of 29 entries in the preliminaries of the women's 100-meter hurdles with a time of 15.14 seconds. Sophomore Angela Hagstrom (Portsmouth, N.H.) placed 16th out of 31 runners in the prelims of the 400-meter hurdles, finishing in 1:05.66.

Babson returns to action with last chance meets at Williams on Wednesday and MIT on Thursday before the NCAA Championships selections are made late next week.
