Track & Field Travels to NEICAAA Championships Beginning Friday

WHAT TO KNOW
• Six members of the Babson men's and women's track & field programs will travel to Dedham, Mass., to compete against the top Division I, II and III athletes in the region at the two-day NEICAAA Championships beginning on Friday morning, hosted by Northeastern University.

2022 NEICAAA CHAMPIONSHIP RECAP
• Junior Anthony Rodriguez produced a seventh-place finish in the men's 10,000-meter run with a time of 31:41.75 to claim All-New England laurels at the meet for the second year in a row. 
• Junior Michael Agard placed 21st in the long jump with a leap of 20-feet, 10.75-inches.
• Katherine Jacobs '22 posted a time of 14.62 to finish 11th in the prelims of the 100-meter hurdles, while sophomore Angela Hagstrom recorded a season-best time of 1:05.82 in the prelims of the 400-meter hurdles.

BEAVER BITES
• The Babson men captured one individual title and finished in 25th place among the 36 scoring teams, while the women had three all-region performance and finished in 22nd place among the 33 scoring teams at the NCAA Division III New England Championships last weekend at Springfield.
• Junior Eric Bottern captured the shot put title in another school-record breaking performance, breaking the program record for the fifth time this season with a mark of 55-feet, 10.5-inches.
• First-year Brooke Jankowski qualified sixth in the preliminaries of the 100-meter hurdles and finished fifth in the finals with a personal-best time of 14.97 seconds to each All-New England honors. Hagstrom placed seventh in the 400-meter hurdles in a time of 1:06.27 for her All-New England accolade.
• Jankowski and Hagstrom combined with senior Caroline Reilly and Chloe Clifford to earn All-New England honors with a fifth-place finish in the 4x400-meter relay in a time of 4:03.85.

NEWMAC HONOR
• Rodriguez was named the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Men's Track Athlete of the Year on Tuesday afternoon in a vote by the league's head coaches.
• The junior distance runner pulled off a pair of impressive victories at the NEWMAC championships back on the last weekend in April, capturing the 10,000 meters with a time of 31:40.51 as well as the 5,000 meters in a NEWMAC record time of 14:41.39.
• He became the second runner in program history to earn the NEWMAC Athlete of the Year, following John Decker '18 in 2017.

WHO TO WATCH
• Jankowski will compete in the women's 100-meter hurdle preliminaries on Friday at 3:00 p.m.
• Agard will compete in the men's 100-meter dash preliminaries Friday at 4:15 p.m. and the long jump at 5:30 p.m.
• Hagstrom will compete in the women's 400-meter hurdles on Friday at 4:35 p.m.
• Sophomore Jack Reynolds compete in the men's high jump Friday at 5:30 p.m.
• Rodriguez will compete in the men's 10,000-meter run on Friday at 7:10 p.m.
• Bottern will compete in the men's shot put Saturday at 2:30 p.m.

NCAA QUALIFYING POSITION
• Bottern's school-record shot put mark of 55-feet, 10.5-inches achieved last weekend at Springfield currently ranks fifth in Division III.

• The Beavers have set a dozen new school records this spring:
• Women (4): Ashna Krishnamurthy -- Long Jump (17-feet, 2.75-inches) and Triple Jump (35-feet, 10.5-inches); 4x100-meter relay -- Reilly, Jankowski, Robyn Wilkes, Hagstrom (49.25); 4x400-meter relay -- Reilly, Jankowski, Clifford, Hagstrom (4:03.37)
• Men (8): Agard – 100 meters (10.89); Yudai Yamakawa -- 3000-meter steeplechase (9:51.53); Rodriguez -- 5000 meters (14:40.02) and 10,000 meters (30:12.90); Eric Bottern -- Shot Put (55-feet, 10.5-inches), Discus (140-feet, 1-inch) and Hammer Throw (155-feet, 11-inches); Thomas Croissant -- Pole Vault (12-feet, 7.5-inches).
