Box Score Sixteen Players Score as Beavers Run Away from Lyons
SOUTH HADLEY, Mass.—Senior Erin Jayne (Merrimac, Mass.) finished with four goals and two assists for six points as visiting Babson College cruised to a 22-3 win over Mount Holyoke College in New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) women's lacrosse action on Saturday afternoon.
With the win, Babson improves to 5-6 overall and 3-1 in conference play, while Mount Holyoke slips to 3-7 overall and 0-4 in the NEWMAC.
First-year Lilly Bedard (Jupiter, Fla.) finished with three goals, four ground balls and two caused turnovers and graduate student Emily Curtis (Walpole, Mass.) and sophomores Nicole Darveau (Sudbury, Mass.) and Jessica Evans (Southbury, Conn.) all added two goals and one assist for the Beavers. Classmate Solana Fahey (North Andover, Mass.) chipped in with two goals, sophomore Clare Connolly (Hanover, Mass.) led all players with 12 draw controls and junior Eileen Manning (Needham, Mass.) contributed five ground balls and two caused turnovers.
Sophomore Kathleen Murphy (Scarborough, Maine) made three saves in the win for Babson.
Sophomore Madison Millyan (Winchester, Mass.), and first-years Emi Bisson (Chester, Conn.),and Taylor Dunn (San Francisco, Calif.) each scored once for the Lyons, who got seven saves from sophomore Emma Tower (Dover, N.H.).
The Green and White forced 14 first-half turnovers and got goals from 10 different players to build a commanding 14-0 advantage after 30 minutes. Evans and Jayne both scored twice in the opening 10 minutes and Darveau converted a feed from Connolly for her second tally of the game to give the Beavers an 8-0 lead with 3:22 to go in the opening quarter.
Connolly notched her first goal 28 seconds later, Dodge scored and then setup sophomore Michaela Downer (North Andover, Mass.) early in the second, and Bedard tallied twice late in the second and again less than two minutes into the third quarter to push the Babson lead to 15-0. Dunn scored first career goal to get the hosts on the board with 10:32 left in the third before the Beavers responded with four straight tallies to make it 19-1 on Jayne's third of the day with 9:28 left in the fourth.
Fahey and sophomore Kylie McCarthy (Danvers, Mass.) each tacked on a goal over the final 6:08 for the Green and White.
Bothe teams return to action on Wednesday as Babson hosts Wheaton at 4 p.m. while Mount Holyoke takes on Smith at 6 p.m.

• The Beavers are 24-13 all-time against Mount Holyoke and have won eight in a row and 17 of the last 18 games in the series since 2004.
• Eight of Babson's last 12 NEWMAC wins have come by a margin of at least 15 goals.
