Box Score

BOSTON, Mass.—Senior Chi Chi Price (Hingham, Mass.) matched his career highs with six goals and eight points, classmate Matt Stucchi (Rexford, N.Y.) tallied one goal and a career-high five assists and Babson College went on an 11-1 run over a 15-minute span in the third and fourth quarters to defeat UMass Boston, 23-12, in non-conference men's lacrosse action Tuesday evening at James Cotter Field.

Babson won its second straight contest and sixth in the last seven outings to improve to 7-2 overall, while UMB had a six-game winning streak snapped and dropped to 7-4 overall.

Senior goalie Will Parducci (Manhattan Beach, Calif) made a career-high 24 saves in the victory. The Beacons were held to 12 goals after scoring at least 21 goals in every game during their win streak.

First-year Bennett Smith (Lake Oswego, Ore.) produced three goals and an assist, graduate student Ryan Kenney (Hingham, Mass.) scored two goals and added two assists and grad student Will Spangenberg (Dover, Mass.) chipped in with two goals and one assist for the Beavers. Sophomore Emmett Martin (Milton, Mass.) and junior defenseman Dillon Quinn (Spring Lake, N.J.) contributed two goals each, senior Nick Solomon (Glencoe, Ill.) added a goal and two assists and junior Jacob Tauss (San Marcos, Calif.) had a goal and an assist in the victory. Junior Grey Sunderland (Bellevue, Wash.) scooped up seven ground balls and junior Sammy Kalishman (Clarksville, Md.) collected five.

Graduate student Connor Smith (Oakland, Maine) led the Beacons with three goals and one assist, senior Luke Murphy (Watertown, Mass.) had two goals and an assist, and junior Jacob Banks (Westminster, Mass.) tallied a goal and two assists, while grad student Gavin Admirand (Marshfield, Mass.), the team's leading scorer, was held to two goals. Senior Jason McNeany (North Attleboro, Mass.) won 15-of-22 face-offs, junior Matt Lucozzi (Billerica, Mass.) won 9-of-16 face-offs, and two goalies, senior Trevor Koppy (Attleboro, Mass.) and first-year Broden Youngclaus (Middleboro, Mass.), combined for 11 saves on 34 shots.

After Price and Murphy traded goals to open the scoring in the first seven minutes of the game, Babson scored three goals in a span of a minute and a half off the sticks of junior Christian Brofft (Pottstown, Pa.), Stucchi and Spangenberg. Murphy and first-year Bolan Beauregard (Walpole, Mass.) countered with two for the Beacons before Kenney and Price scored for Babson to give the visitors a 6-4 lead after one quarter.

The teams alternated goals during a low-scoring second quarter (five goals) as Price scored twice for Babson and senior Sean Conery (Acton, Mass.) added a man-up goal as the Beavers took a 9-6 margin into the intermission.

The offenses went back and forth again in the third quarter, with Smith scoring twice and Admirand one for UMB while Smith found the net twice and Quinn once for the Beavers as Babson maintained a three-goal lead (12-9) with six minutes to go in the third. That's as close as the Beavers would get and the Green and White closed out the period with three unanswered goals by Price, Martin and Spangenberg to go ahead, 15-9.

Babson took a firm control of the game with eight of the first nine goals of the fourth quarter to open up a double-digit lead 23-10. Kenney had a goal and two assists in the surge, while Martin, Tauss, Price, junior Topher Bower (Chicago, Ill.), Solomon, Smith and Quinn all scored once each.

The Beacons had a 56-48 advantage in shots and won the ground ball battle 31-27 while garnering 24 of the 38 faceoffs. Babson was successful on 26 of 27 clear attempts while holding UMB to 19 of 25.
