SERIES HISTORY
• Babson is 8-0 all-time against Coast Guard in a series that dates back to 2015.
• The Beavers have outscored the Bears 53-3 in three previous games at MacDowell Field although Saturday's matchup will be the first in Babson Park since 2019.
LAST MEETING
• Senior Erin Jayne finished with a game-high four points (2g, 2a) and Babson used a six-goal run over 11 minutes spanning the third and fourth quarters on the way to defeating Coast Guard, 13-10, on April 23, 2022, in New London, Conn.
• Bushey, seniors Claudia Dodge and Anna Katherine Sypniewski and sophomore Amelia Novitch all scored twice for the Beavers, who got goals from six different players during the decisive spurt on the way to building a 13-8 lead.
• Sophomore Caitlyn Coates and Katherine Pittman both scored three times and junior Mia Becker led all players with eight draw controls for the Bears, who opened the third quarter with three straight goals to take an 8-7 lead at the 9:27 mark.
SCOUTING THE BEAVERS
• Babson (8-7, 6-1 NEWMAC) is coming off a 22-1 rout of Emerson on Wednesday afternoon.
• Graduate student Emily Curtis finished with five goals and one assist, first-year Lilly Bedard scored three times and sophomore Clare Connolly won 12 draws for the Beavers, who had 13 players record at least one tally in the win.
• Curtis (50-17-67) is tied for second in goals and ranks third in the conference in points, Jayne (26-22-48) is fifth in the NEWMAC in assists and Dodge (27-10-37) has collected 26 ground balls and leads the team with 22 caused turnovers.
• Connolly has won a single-season program record 142 draw and ranks eighth in Division III in draws controls per game (9.47), junior Eileen Manning leads the defense with 25 ground balls and 19 caused turnovers, and sophomore Kathleen Murphy boasts a 9.76 goals against average and a .435 save percentage in 15 starts this spring.
SCOUTING THE BEARS
• Coast Guard (10-4, 6-1 NEWMAC) has won two straight games and is coming off a 17-3 blowout of Mount Holyoke on Wednesday.
• Junior Sarah Skurat and first-year Abby McAllister both scored three times, Laine Weber added two goals and one assist and Becker recorded 12 draw controls for the Bears, who were successful on all 14 of their clear attempts.
• Senior Gianna Cascio (37-21-58) ranks fifth in the NEWMAC in points, McAllister (25-14-39) has scored at least one goal in 10 straight games and Skurat (21-17-38) is second on the team in assists.
• Becker leads the defense with 37 ground balls and team highs of 79 draw controls and 25 caused turnovers, while the duo of junior Devon McCue and sophomore Maici Mintchwarner have posted a 7.03 goals against average and a .507 save percentage this spring.
MURPHY EARNS NEWMAC DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK NOD
• Murphy was honored for Babson when she was named NEWMAC Defensive Athlete of the Week on Monday.
• The second-year goalie posted a 4.00 goals against average and a .636 save percentage while totaling 14 saves in a pair of conference wins. She turned away 12 shots in Wednesday's 19-8 victory over Wheaton and followed it up with two saves while recording her second shutout of the year over Wellesley on Saturday.
SMITH PASSES REARDON AS WOMEN'S LACROSSE'S WINNINGEST COACH
• With Wednesday's 22-1 rout of Emerson, Smith collected the 113th victory of her Babson career and passed Kully Reardon (2002-11) for the most victories in program history.
ASSAULT ON THE RECORD BOOKS
• Jayne currently ranks fourth in Babson history with 72 assists and her 175 points have her in 15th place all-time.
• Connolly's has already set a new single-season record with 142 draw controls this season and is one of just three players along with Trisha Babson '12 (354) and Julia Harrigan '18 (296) with more than 200 draws in school history.
• Dodge is now ninth in Babson history with 70 caused turnovers.
SENIOR SATURDAY
• Dodge, Jayne and fellow seniors Anna Katherine Sypniewski and Maeve Williams will play their final regular season home game at MacDowell Field on Saturday afternoon.
• The Beavers' class of 2023 helped the program win a NEWMAC Tournament championship on the way to reaching the NCAA Tournament in 2021 and advanced to the program's sixth consecutive conference tournament final last spring.
NUMBERS TO KNOW
• The Beavers have outscored their first seven NEWMAC foes 136-35, which includes an 85-16 margin in the first half.
• Babson is 8-1 this season and 21-1 since the start of last year when leading entering the fourth quarter.
• The Green and White is 10-0 this year and has won 32 of its last 33 contests when holding its opponents to 10 goals or fewer.
• The Beavers are 28-4 at home against NEWMAC opponents since 2016.
