WHAT TO KNOW
• The Babson men's and women's track & field teams conclude regular-season competition at MIT's Sean Collier Invitational, serving as the Beavers' final tune up before next weekend's NEWMAC Championships.
• The majority of the Sean Collier Invitational will take place on Saturday, preceded by the Sean Collier Distance Night on Friday at the Sherie and Don (1961) Morrison Track. Junior Anthony Rodriguez will represent Babson on Friday in the 10,000 meters.
LAST TIME AT MIT
• Junior Eric Bottern broke his own program record in the shot put and finished second overall with a throw of 48-feet, 9.50-inches. Henry Rosaly led a list of three NCAA regional qualifiers with his time of 50.68 in the 400 meters which was good for fourth place. Graduate student Ryan Wilson placed fifth in the 1500 meters with a qualifying time of 4:01.44 and sophomore Reid Dixon came in sixth in the 100-meter dash by crossing the finish line in 11.19 seconds to earn his spot at the NCAA regionals.
• Sophomore Angela Hagstrom achieved an NCAA regional championship qualifying time in the 400-meter hurdles with a fourth-place finish time of 1:06.70, bettering her previous season-best time by nearly three seconds. Nina Sitarski '22 came in fifth in the javelin with a throw of 102-feet, 2-inches, while senior Caroline Reilly added a 10th-place showing in the 400 meters with a career-best time of 1:02.89.
SCOUTING THE BABSON MEN
• The Beavers are coming off a strong meet at the Silfen Invitational at Connecticut College last weekend that included three school records and a seventh-place finish among 20 schools.
• Rodriguez got things started on Friday evening when he broke his own school record in the 10,000 meters, placing fourth with a time of 30:27.92, which ranks among the top 35 this spring in Division III.
• Bottern broke his own program standard in the shot put for the fourth time this spring with a first-place mark of 54-feet, 1-inch, a mark that ranks ninth-best in Division III. Junior Michael Agard had an outstanding performance in the 100-meter dash, finishing in fourth place with school-record time of 10.89 seconds that is a New England Division III qualifying time.
SCOUTING THE BABSON WOMEN
• Senior Lauren Zatulove qualified for the NCAA regional championship meet in the heptathlon as Babson wrapped up the two-day Silfen Invitational at Connecticut College by finishing 15th among scoring teams last Saturday.
• Zatulove recorded a career-best 3284 points in the heptathlon, which ranks fourth in program history. Hagstrom was the runner-up in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 1:06.82, and first-year Robyn Wilkes took eighth place in the 100 meters, crossing the finish line in 12.82 seconds
• Senior Rachel Ip came in ninth in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 16.97 and Reilly posted a time of 1:02.23 in the 400 meters that was good for ninth position. She also ran a career-best time of 27.39 in the 200 meters.
TEAM RANKINGS
• The Babson men ranked ninth among 35 schools in the East region and third among NEWMAC schools by the US Track & Field/Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA).
• Their 215.76 points trail only Tufts, MIT, Bates, Bowdoin, Colby, WPI, UMass Dartmouth and Bridgewater State and ahead of Southern Maine in the top 10.
• The Beaver women are ranked 14th among 37 schools in the East region with 136.65 points, fifth among NEWMAC schools behind MIT (2nd, 866.93), WPI (4th, 554.99), Wheaton (9th, 234.84), and Wellesley (11th, 169.73).
NCAA NEW ENGLAND QUALIFIERS
• A total of 14 Babson athletes have punched their tickets to the NCAA New England Championships, which will be held at Springfield College on May 5-6.
• Men: Agard (long jump, 100m), Bottern (shot put), first-year Max Gregoire (800m), sophomore Julian Ivarra (10,000m), senior Jed Kaufman (110 hurdles), sophomore Harrison Prucher (110 hurdles), Rodriguez (5000m), Wilson (1500m) and senior Yudai Yamakawa (3000m steeplechase).
• Women: Hagstrom (400 hurdles), first-year Brooke Jankowski (100 hurdles), first-year Ashna Krishnamurthy (triple jump), Wilkes (100m), Zatulove (heptathlon).
MEN'S EAST REGION LEADERS
• The Babson men have six individual performances that rank in the top 10 in the NCAA east region.
• Bottern is second in the region in the shot put (54-feet, 1-inch) and sophomore Jack Reynolds is ninth in the high jump (6-feet, 1.25-inches).
• Rodriguez is third in the 10,000 meters (30:27.92) and fourth in the 5,000 meters (14:40.02), Yamakawa is ninth in the 3000m steeplechase (9:51.53) and Agard is ninth in the 100 meters (10.89).
WOMEN'S EAST REGION LEADERS
• The Babson women have three individual performances that rank in the top 10 in the east region and two top 10 relay times.
• Hagstrom is eighth in the 400-meter hurdles (1:06.88), Krishnamurthy is 10th in the triple jump (35-feet, 10.5 inches) and Zatulove is 10th in the heptathlon (3284 points).
• Both the 4x100 (49.65) and 4x400 (4:05.08) relay teams are listed sixth in the region, the 4x100 group including Hagstrom, Wilkes, Krishnamurthy and Reilly and the 4x400 contingent includes Reilly, Jankowski, first-year Chloe Clifford and Hagstrom.
