SERIES HISTORY
vs. Roger Williams
• Babson is 1-1 all-time against Roger Williams in a series that dates back to 2013.
• The Beavers took the first encounter between the two schools, 17-9, in 2013 before the Hawks captured last year's game, both contests in Bristol, R.I.
vs. Emerson
• Babson is 6-1 all-time against Emerson in a series that dates back to 2014, including 2-1 at MacDowell Field.
• The Green and White have won all six games since Emerson's only win, an 8-5 verdict on April 19, 2014 in Babson Park. The last three wins have had a margin of victory of at least 13 goals.
LAST MEETING
vs. Roger Williams
• Roger Williams took the lead for good with a four-goal run that started late in the first quarter and closed the game with the only three goals of the fourth quarter on the way to defeating visiting Babson, 14-8, on April 3, 2022, at Bayside Field.
• Senior Erin Jayne scored three times and Courtney Kaskey '22 and sophomore Amelia Novitch registered two goals apiece for the Beavers. Senior Claudia Dodge contributed a goal, three assists, four ground balls and two caused turnovers, Brooke Leveillee '22 scooped up four ground balls and sophomore Clare Connolly collected a game-high five draws in the loss.
• Senior Mandy Beck recorded a game-high five points with three goals and two assists, while graduate student Devon Sarazin '22M, Nikki Norton '22 and seniors Campbell Haller and Ryleigh Cavanaugh all scored twice to lead the Hawks. Beck also contributed two ground balls, two draw controls and two caused turnovers in the victory.
vs. Emerson
• Senior Anna Katherine Sypniewski scored a career-high seven goals and Babson opened the game with 11 straight goals as the Beavers defeated Emerson, 20-3, in on April 20, 2022, at Rotch Field.
• Kaskey scored four times, Jayne finished with two goals and three assists and Connolly chipped in with two goals and five draw controls for the Beavers. Dodge also won five draws, junior Eileen Manning recorded a season-high four caused turnovers and sophomore Kathleen Murphy made six saves in the win.
• Junior Lauren Longstreet had a goal and an assist and senior Nina Khosla finished with 13 saves in the setback.
SCOUTING THE BEAVERS
• Babson (7-6, 5-1 NEWMAC) has won three in a row and five of its last six games, including a 24-0 victory over Wellesley on Saturday at Butler Stadium.
• Jayne, Dodge, and first-year Lilly Bedard all tallied three goals and one assist and Babson had eight multi-goal scorers and 12 goal scorers in all. Graduate student Emily Curtis also scored three goals, sophomore Kathryn Blake contributed two goals and three assists, and sophomores Michaela Downer and Nora Lema added two goals and two assists each for the Beavers.
• Curtis (43-14-57) ranks sixth in the league in goals and points, Jayne (23-21-44) is fourth in the league in assists, and Dodge (24-9-33) tops the team with 19 caused turnovers. Connolly collected 16 draws against Wellesley and ranks sixth in Division III with 9.85 draw controls per game.
• Murphy (9.95 goals against average, .430 save percentage) has stopped at least 50 percent of the shots she faced in five of her last six games.
SCOUTING THE HAWKS
• Roger Williams (8-6, 5-1 CCC) has won its last two games, including a 26-7 victory over the University of New England on Saturday at Bayside Field.
• Beck led the Hawks with career highs of eight goals and nine points while classmate Lily Cunningham added a season-high five goals and one assist. Haller produced four goals, junior Julia Kelley (3-2) and Cavanaugh (3-1) tallied three goals each and senior Brooke McErlain contributed two goals and a team-high four assists. Cavanaugh grabbed a team-high 13 draws and Beck finished with six ground balls and four caused turnovers.
• Beck (38-25-63) leads the CCC in assists and points and is tied for fourth in goals and Kelley (32-33-54) is second in the league in assists and third in points. Cunningham (34-7-41), Cavanaugh (29-10-39) and McErlain (20-18-38) are also strong offensive threats. Cavanaugh leads the conference and ranks 14th in Division III in draw controls (8.64/gm), and Kate Schultz (24) and Beck (23) are the team leaders in caused turnovers.
• Sophomore Caroline Roach (10.81 GAA, .401 sv. pct) has started all 14 games for the Hawks and has made 73 saves.
SCOUTING THE LIONS
• Emerson (3-10, 1-5 NEWMCAC) has dropped its last six outings, including a 16-13 setback at Clark last Saturday. Three of the Lions' last four losses have come by a combined six goals.
• Sophomores Callie Krosin and Grace Danehy led the Lions with four goals each in the loss to Clark, while Longstreet finished with three goals, three assists and team-highs of seven draw controls and five ground balls. Senior Jules Rein caused three turnovers, and Khosla grabbed four ground balls and made 14 saves in goal.
• Longstreet (42-19-61) is fourth in the NEWMAC in goals and points and Krosin (37-8-45) is seventh in goals and Danehy (24-5-29) is third on the team in scoring. First-year Ava Selby has collected a team-high 37 draw controls, Beck has caused 17 turnovers and scooped up a team-leading 44 ground balls.
• Khosla (15.68 GAA, .452 sv. pct) has started 12 of the 13 games for the Lions and has made 129 saves, third-most in the NEWMAC.
WEEKLY HONOR
• Murphy was honored for Babson when she was named NEWMAC Defensive Athlete of the Week on Monday.
• The second-year goalie posted a 4.00 goals against average and a .636 save percentage while totaling 14 saves in a pair of conference wins. She turned away 12 shots in Wednesday's 19-8 victory over Wheaton and followed it up with two saves while recording her second shutout of the year over Wellesley on Saturday.
IN THE RECORD BOOK
• Jayne became the 19th player in program history to score 100 career goals with her performance at Wellesley. She has moved up to fourth all-time with 71 assists and sixth with 171 points.
• Connolly increased her single-season school record for draw controls to 128 with a career-high 16 against Wellesley. She also became the third player in program history to record 200 draw controls, upping her total to 211.
• Dodge is now 10th on the Babson career list with 67 caused turnovers and needs just one to catch Brianne Carlson '08 for ninth place.
TIGHT RACE IN THE NEWMAC
• With six games down and three to go in the NEWMAC race, three teams are within one game of first place in the conference standings.
• MIT (6-0) is alone at the top of the conference with Babson (5-1) and Coast Guard (5-1) just a game back. Springfield (4-2), Smith (3-3) and Wheaton (3-3) are in the middle of the pack.
BABSON VS. THE NEWMAC
• Babson is 45-5 in regular season games against NEWMAC opponents since the start of 2016.
• Ten of the last 14 victories against conference schools going back to last season have been by at least 10 goals.
BUSY BEAVERS
• Curtis has scored at least two goals in 12 straight games and registered at least five points in seven of her last 10 games.
• Dodge has scored at least one goal in 11 straight games and has caused at least one turnover in six of her last eight outings.
• Connolly has grabbed at least six draw controls in 11 straight outings, with double-digit numbers in four of the last five and six times overall.
NUMBERS TO KNOW
• The Beavers are 7-0 this season and 20-1 since the start of last season when scoring 12 or more goals.
• Babson has won 31 of its last 32 games when holding its foes to 10 goals or fewer.
