Box Score BABSON PARK, Mass.— Graduate student Emily Curtis (Walpole, Mass.) and senior Claudia Dodge (Pelham, N.Y.) combined for seven goals and four assists and sophomore Clare Connolly (Hanover, Mass.) collected 14 draw controls as Babson College rolled to a 19-8 victory over Wheaton College Wednesday evening in New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) women's lacrosse action at MacDowell Field.
With the victory, Babson won for the fourth time in five games to even its record at 6-6 overall and move to 4-1 in conference play while Wheaton dropped its fourth straight and fell to 7-6 overall and 2-3 in the NEWMAC.
Curtis scored five goals an added an assist, Dodge tallied two goals and three assist, and sophomore Jessica Evans (Southbury, Conn.) contributed three goals and one assist for the Beavers. Senior Erin Jayne (Merrimac, Mass.), sophomore Michaela Downer (North Andover, Mass.), and first-year Lilly Bedard (Jupiter, Fla.) all scored twice, and senior Anna Katherine Sypniewski (Vero Beach, Fla.) and sophomores Kylie McCarthy (Danvers, Mass.) and Kathryn Blake (Medfield, Mass.) added one apiece in the victory.
Dodge also caused four turnovers and grabbed five draw controls for the Green and White and sophomore goalie Kathleen Murphy (Scarborough, Maine) was impressive in goal with 12 saves in the victory.
Senior Brooke Harvey (Cape Elizabeth, Maine) led the Lyons with three goals, one assist and five draw controls, junior Avonlea LeBeau (North Branford, Conn.) scored three goals and senior Jessie Kilburn (North Branford, Conn.) chipped in with two goals. Junior Kendall Conwell (Weston, Fla.) caused three turnovers and senior Maggie Ryan (Freeport, Maine) scooped up a team-high four ground balls.
Babson took control of the game early with four goals in the first seven minutes, two by Curtis and one each from Dodge and Evans. Harvey put the Lyons on the board with 3:37 on the clock before Curtis connected on her third of the stanza to give the Beavers a 5-1 lead after one frame.
Blake, Dodge and Sypniewski rattled off three goals for Babson in just 70 seconds early in the second quarter as Babson extended its lead to 8-1. LeBeau put one in for Wheaton but the Beavers scored the next four goals, two by Evans and one each by Jayne and Curtis, as the lead ballooned to 12-2. LeBeau added a free-position goal for Wheaton the final minute of the half to make it a 12-3 game at the break.
The Beavers outscored the Lyons 5-1 in the third quarter to pull away to a 17-4 margin. Wheaton tallied four of the six goals in the fourth quarter when the game was out of hand.
The Green and White finished with a 27-26 advantage in shots and a whopping 23-8 margin on draws. Babson converted 8-of-10 clears and held Wheaton to 13-of-18.
Both teams play again on Saturday at 1 p.m. as Babson heads down the road to Wellesley and Wheaton returns home to host Mount Holyoke for its Senior Day game.

• Babson has won eight in a row against Wheaton and is 28-16 all-time in the all-time series that dates back to 1987.
• Babson is 44-5 in regular season games against NEWMAC opponents since the start of 2016.
• Babson has won 29 of its last 30 games when holding its foes to 10 goals or fewer.
• Connolly pushed her season total to 112 draw controls, breaking the Babson single-season record of 99 set by Julia Harrigan '18 in 2018.
