SERIES HISTORY
• Babson is 27-16 all-time against Wheaton in a series that dates back to 1987.
• The Beavers have won seven consecutive games in the series since the Lyons won their fourth in a row against Babson with a 15-11 verdict in Norton in a NEWMAC Tournament quarterfinal game on April 26, 2016.
LAST MEETING
• Junior Nicole Darveau scored a career-high five goals to help head coach Michelle Smith record her 100th career win as Babson defeated Wheaton, 20-4, on April 13, 2022 at Nordin Field in Norton.
• Sophomore Amelia Novitch scored four times, Courtney Kaskey '22 added three goals and senior Erin Jayne contributed two goals and a season-high four assists to lead the Beavers. Brooke Leveillee '22 led all players with four ground balls, junior Kayleigh Hacker recorded a game-high three caused turnovers and sophomore Clare Connolly won a game-best eight draws in the win.
• Junior Avonlea LeBeau scored twice and Darien Webb '22 collected six draw controls to lead the Lyons. Seniors Emily Oundjian and Emily Kelly combined to make 10 saves in the loss.
SCOUTING THE BEAVERS
• Babson (5-6, 3-1 NEWMAC) has won three of its last four games with 20-plus goals in all three victories, including a 22-3 conference verdict over Mount Holyoke on Saturday in South Hadley, Mass.
• Jayne tallied four goals and two assists for six points to lead the Beavers while first-year Lilly Bedard finished with three goals, four ground balls and two caused turnovers. Graduate student Emily Curtis, Darveau and sophomore Jessica Evans all added two goals and one assist for the Beavers. Classmate Solana Fahey chipped in with two goals, Connolly led all players with 12 draw controls and junior Eileen Manning contributed five ground balls and two caused turnovers. Sophomore Kathleen Murphy made three saves in goal for Babson.
• Curtis (35-13-48) has registered at least three points in 10 straight games and ranks sixth in the league in goals and points, Jayne (18-19-37) is fifth in the league in assists, and Dodge (19-5-24) tops the team with 14 caused turnovers. Connolly ranks 10th in Division III with 8.91 draw controls per game.
• Murphy (11.01 goals against average, .409 save percentage) has stopped at least 50 percent of the shots she faced in three of her last four games.
SCOUTING THE LYONS
• Wheaton (7-5, 2-2 NEWMCAC) has dropped three straight games in April after finishing March with a four-game winning streak.
• The senior duo of Brooke Harvey and Jessie Kilburn each tallied four points with three goals and an assist in Saturday's 14-9 loss at Coast Guard. Sophomore Sophie Gromala scored a goal of her own while dishing out three assists on the day while LeBeau netted two goals and picked up a pair of ground balls. Oundjian made 12 saves, including her 200th career stop with 31 seconds left in the third quarter on a free position opportunity.
• Harvey (31-16-47), sophomore Lara Finnie (37-6-43) and LeBeau (32-9-41) are all 30-goal and 40-point scorers for the Lyons, and Gromala (9-19-28) leads the team in assists. Harvey tops the squad in draw controls, senior Maggie Ryan has scooped up a team-high 29 ground balls and has caused a team-high 16 turnovers.
• Oundjian (9.99 GAA, .497 sv. pct, 8 starts) ranks in the top six in the NEWMAC in both GAA and save pct. while Kelly (9.70 GAA, .395 sv. pct, 4 starts) is a solid back-up.
TIGHT RACE IN THE NEWMAC
• With four games down and five to go in the NEWMAC race, four teams are within one game of first place in the conference standings.
• MIT (4-0) and Coast Guard (4-0) are tied for the top spot with Babson (3-1) and Springfield (3-1) just a game back. Wheaton (2-2) and Smith (2-2) have the advantage for the final two playoff spots.
BABSON VS. THE NEWMAC
• Babson is 43-5 in regular season games against NEWMAC opponents since the start of 2016.
• Eight of the last 12 victories against conference schools going back to last season have been by at least 15 goals.
MOVING UP THE CHARTS
• Connolly (98) is two shy of setting a new program record for draw controls in a season, currently held by Julia Harrigan '18 (99 in 2018). Connolly is also third on the Babson career list with 181 draw controls.
• Jayne has moved up to fourth on the Babson all-time list with 69 career assists and 17th with 164 points.
BUSY BEAVERS
• Curtis has scored at least four goals and registered at least five points in six of her last eight games.
• Dodge has scored at least one goal in nine straight games.
• Connolly has grabbed at least four draw controls in all 11 games this season, with at least nine draw controls six times.
NUMBERS TO KNOW
• The Beavers are 5-0 this season and 18-1 since the start of last season when scoring 12 or more goals.
• Babson has won 29 of its last 30 games when holding its foes to 10 goals or fewer.
• The Green and White are 17-2 since last season and 45-3 since the start of 2018 when leading at halftime.
