Game Preview: Women's Lacrosse at No. 10 Wesleyan

SERIES HISTORY
• Babson is 6-11 all-time against Wesleyan in a series that dates back to 1994.
• The Cardinals have won seven in a row against the Beavers since 2015.
• The Green and White enters Wednesday's contest looking for its first road win in the series since 2012.

LAST MEETING
• Senior Olivia Lai scored four times, junior Laura Baine finished with three goals and two assists and senior Kendall Mittleman added two goals and four assists for six points as Wesleyan cruised to an 18-5 win over the Beavers on March 27, 2022, in Babson Park.
• Indigo Pellegrini won seven draws for the Cardinals, who raced out to a 12-2 halftime lead.
• Senior Claudia Dodge recorded two goals, four ground balls and three caused turnovers, while sophomore Jessica Evans scored twice for Babson.
• The game originally started on March 9 but was suspended due to heavy snow just over five minutes into the contest.

SCOUTING THE BEAVERS
• Babson (0-2) will play its second consecutive nationally-ranked opponent after suffering a 20-5 loss at No. 1 Middlebury on Sunday.
• Graduate student Emily Curtis scored three times, junior Nicole Darveau had two goals and senior Erin Jayne dished out three assists in the loss for the Beavers.
• Darveau (4-0-4) has recorded back-to-back multi-goal games, Dodge (4-0-4) has contributed four ground balls and three caused turnovers, Curtis (3-0-3) is second on the team with eight shots and Jayne (0-4-4) leads the Green and White in assists.
• Evans and sophomore Clare Connolly have combined for 17 draw controls, junior Zoë Michaud leads the team with four caused turnovers and sophomore goalkeeper Kathleen Murphy owns a 14.28 goals against average and a .367 save percentage in two starts this spring.

SCOUTING THE CARDINALS
• No. 10 Wesleyan (1-0) opened the season with a 15-3 win over Bates on Saturday.
• Lai led all players with three goals and Mittleman, senior Gil Horst and juniors Brooke Nelson and Molly Greer each scored twice for Cardinals, who led 8-0 at halftime and forced the Bobcats into 25 turnovers.
• Wesleyan returns its top seven scorers and three starters on defense from a team that went 14-5 from a team that advanced to the third round of the NCAA Tournament last May.
• The trio of Lai (63-8-71), Baine (39-25-64) and Mittleman (23-39-62) all produced more than 60 points last spring, senior Erin Trotta led the squad with 37 caused turnovers and graduate student Abby Wolk posted a 7.63 goals against average and a .378 save percentage in 19 starts.

FREE-POSITION IN FOCUS
• The Beavers scored 72 free-position goals last season and ranked seventh in Division III converting 56.2 percent of their chances.
• They have started slow on restarts this year converting just 1-of-8 opportunities over their first two outings.

POINTS STREAK ROLLS ON
• Despite being held without a goal over the first two contests, Jayne has at least one point in each of her 31 career games at Babson.
• With her three helpers at Middlebury on Sunday, she also moved into 10th place on the program's all-time list with 54 career assists.

NUMBERS TO KNOW
• The Beavers are 43-3 since the start of 2018 when scoring 12 or more goals.
• Babson has won 25 of its last 26 games when holding its foes to 10 goals or fewer.
• The Green and White is 11-3 going back to the start of last year when recording 10 or more caused turnovers.
• Babson is 9-2 going back to last season when winning more draws than its opponents.

UP NEXT
• The Beavers travel to St. Leo University, which is about 45 minutes north of Tampa, Fla., to face Rhodes next Monday at 5 p.m.
